I never saw such abilities to insert some svg directly into writer with my WIN versions. What builds for what OS do have that internal svg import? - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. No idea when/if Ubuntu updates, if getting recent packages there does not solve your problem, please file them a bug. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. Start openoffice writer, from the menu select insert-picture-from file 2. Select the svg image 3. Observe The same error is observed opening the file in draw This is the Ububtu 8.04 version of OpenOffice from the Ubuntu repositories - same bug seen on i386 and amd64, OpenOffice set to use the system locale which is en_GB.UTF8 - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. Steps to reproduce: 0. Downolad Attached yorkshire_rose.svg and save it on HD 1. Start OOo 2. Open new WRITER document 3. Menu 'Insert - Picture - From File' (Alternatively: Use Icon 'Insert Picture from File' 4. Browse Folder where you saved yorkshire_rose.svg As expected, yorkshire_rose.svg will not be listed, because OOo can not handle .svg documents 5. Type *.svg into file name pane and press enter yorkshire_rose.svg now will be listed 6. Doubleclick yorkshire_rose.svg expected: Message Box Unknown graphic format actual: as expected. This behaviour is independent from installation of svg import extension. Even if svg import extension is installed, OOo can only OPEN an .svg document in DRAW, but not import or handle it as a normal image like .png Currently I have installed 'svg-import 1.2.2' It seems, that Ubuntu 8.04 supplies some other svg import? I doubt that that problem is in responsibility of OOo @andyr: Please check in Menu 'Tools - Extension manager' whether you find information concerning svg-import. May be that function is integrated into Ubuntu source? It might be more promising to file this report at Ubuntu bug tracking. @QA helper: Any experience with svg import in Linux distributions? - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
