Going online to find out isn't always practicable. Please add a tooltip into the dialog so that hovering the mouse indicates what the A-1 means or please add the information into Help, or both. It appears in Writer File menu Export as PDF PDF Options dialog General tab General PDF/A-1 checkbox. Also relevant is issue 91378, albeit since resolved. I'm using OOo Writer 2.4.0 without Java Runtime Environment on Linux Fedora Core 4 on a Pentium 4 laptop to export as PDF.
