To reprot here, always make sure that the problem is reproducible in a native OOo version. Closing for now. BTW: I don't know what you intend to do by setting a numbering style to a heading but the correct way to number headings is over Tools - Outline Numbering - Numbering ;) - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=96482 --- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Mon Nov 24 15:38:07 + 2008 --- No there must certainly is some kind of bug here and I've had it tested on WinXP, same thing there, so we're it's not a distribution specific issue. Maybe my description wasn't clear enough. @es Doing it the correct way would work, but I think this bug is broader than such. What I wanted was Heading 1 and 2 to be prefixed with a chapter and section number (as Outline numbering would do). I did that by right clicking on Heading 1 in the Styles and Formatting (F11) display, choosing 'Modify' and in the tab 'Numbering' I chose Numbering 5. But this makes all headings with Heading 1 disappear in the Navigator. Nomatter how many new paragraphs I give the Heading 1 style, none of them appears in the navigator. Now if I then try do remove the numbering by right clicking on the Heading 1 style and setting Numbering to 'None', the headlines still won't show in the Navigator. Isn't this a bug? What appearantly happens is that doing what I did corrupts the Heading 1 style. When I go back to Outline Numbering, Heading 1 is missing in the right hand list. The Numbering Paragraph Style isn't set, as it is with all other present Headings in the right hand list. Setting Numbering Paragraph Style fixes the issue making Heading 1 reappear in the navigator. This bug might be insignificant, but quite annoying if you're unaware of Outline numbering. I not sure if this issue should be reopened. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. To replicate do following. * Create a document * Type Headline 1, headline 2 and headline 3 on three seperated lines * Give each line a heading format/style/typography accordingly * Check navigator and verify the nested order * Edit the Heading 2 style, add Numbering 5 as its numbering style * Save the style and open navigator. Headline 2 dissappeared. I've been trying for a while and haven't succeeded making Headline 2 reappear in the Navigator. Setting the numbering of Heading 2 style to none, didn't solve the issue. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. The heading paragraph is always shown in the navigator. I use OOo3.0 on WinXP. Do you use an original OOo or do you use an OOo version from your Linux provider? Do you use the default document template? - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. Is far as I know, Arch Linux rarely customize the packages it provides. They should be installed just like the original vendor distributes them. However I've asked other Arch Linux users if they can confirm the bug. As soon as someone replies I'll head back here. And I'm told that Arch Linux does distribute a patched version of OpenOffice.org. I'll file the bug there, though it seems unlikely that a distribution patch would cause this bug, I think. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
