sorry to write here again, but I think this issue is not fixed completly yet.

if you have an embedded ole item in an autotext, and try to update it, it will
not change.

with the current trunk (where the here provided patch is applied) the preview
update is fixed, but not the item itself.

you can try following:

open new writer sheet,

insert an calc sheet, enter an 1 into the sheet, create an autotext.

update the calc sheet (enter 2) and update the autotext.

if you now let insert the autotext in a writer sheet, 2 appears, but soon as
you want to edit the calc sheet, it switches back to 1 (and uses the old
table)

you can test it with more complex tables too, so you see it always uses the old
table, if you use the old shortcut and only update the autotext.

even if you create a new autotext, delete the old, and rename the new one back
to the old shortcut, it suddenly uses the old ole object again.

I hope you all understand what I mean ;-)
(if not: i am at the openoffice.org channel on freenode)

you talk about autotext with OLE objects in writer and calc, I never found it
possible to create an OLE autotext object from writer itself, I could only ever
import an existing OLE object into autotext from a word template. I suppose you
are talking about modifying a previously imported chart OLE object.

so, this looks to me that the fact the missing ObjectReplacement has been fixed
has exposed more bugs in the handling of OLE objects as autotext. In otherwords
what you are describing is a new bug ( or more precisely an old bug that was
never hit ) imo you should open a new issue for that ( please reference this bug
in there as it of course is relevant )
I think the fact the autotext for OLE objects seems to be not supported for
'native' openoffice formats is telling. I would guess that OLE objects as
autotext are not fully supported, probably the best solution would be if it were
possible to make the imported autotext OLE item read-only.

hmm no its not only imported autottexts.

You can test it with a fresh writer sheet (and use Insert - Object - OLE -
Calc Sheet), select it (Ctrl + A) and then (Ctrl + F3) to open the autottext
list, enter a shortcut and name, and use New.

That works correctly, but soon as you have to update the autotext (for example,
new version of a customer bill, changes in taxes or something like that, error
in format, ...) you should be able to update it. the preview's updated, but not
the content of the embedded calc sheet.

But I will open a new issue then (it happens in all the versions from 3.0.0
until current trunk)

yeah, I assumed you could just create an ole object in openoffice and use that
as an autotext item, seems that isn't possible, ole objects as autotext only
seems possible from imported documents. So, this problem isn't as general as I
thought. I have just created a test template containing an embedded chart that
will demonstrate the problem too

hmm I don't have much of a description here either,

before patch
=
after importing the template, navigate to the new autotext item and enable the
preview. All you will see in the preview is the 'Object 1' placeholder ( because
the replacement is missing ). Ok you needn't use the preview but could also
choose to insert the autotext into the document, same result though

after patch
===
same as above except the preview should work and if you insert the autotext you
will actually see the object replacement too.

see attached ms template containing an autotext item ( ole/picture ), when
imported this is displayed just as 'Object 1'

afaics this is a general issue with autotext not just imported autotext. The
problem occurs because the ObjectReplacements folder is not copied into the
glossary document ( created for the autotext shortname ) see attached.
