I am running Gentoo Linux with KDE as my window manager. OpenOffice does not respect the active monitor and instead always opens on the last monitor it was open on. If this is actually a separate issue, I'd be happy to file a new bug. This looks at least related though (not following the window manager). I have been using the app-office/openoffice package (compiled locally) without any special CFLAGS. I saw it again today on my amd64 machine where I have little choice other than using the backported 2.3.1 (ie, I don't feel up to compiling my own). I also saw a different misplacement of the window on an i386, too. I have to manually move that window into place before I can work with it. Creating new windows from that one also creates misplaced windows, although of other varieties. I didn't find a system in it. I tried with a blank profile (ie, deleted my ~/.openoffice.org2 folder), but to no avail. It's not a show stopper, but it's still aggravating.
