Please decribe the problem you are having.
You just dump loads of config, without describing your problem.

Although looking at the config, I would delete the .asoundrc file.
You should not need .asoundrc files any more, except it specific, rarely
used configurations.

I have sound working without any problems but today, I connected front audio
ports of my chassis to the motherboard. Now I am facing problems.

Problem: The front microphone jack doesn't work and when I connect headphones
to the line out jack the rear audio jack doesn't get muted.

Expected: Front microphone should work and when the headphones are connected
to front audio jack the rear audio jack should not produce sound.

I have tried to pass model=* option with following models but none of them
work.

What do I need to do to get the expected behaviour? Any help will be highly
appreciated.

TIA,
Regards,
Abhay

Why would you install such an old version? Try 1.0.10 at least.

2006-01-11 Thread Dave
I have not been able to successfully get AC3 passthru to work on this
card, Yamaha YMF744 driver, I cant find out directly if its simply not
supported or if Im doing something wrong, I can get PCM sound out the
optical port without issue. No matter what I try, AC3 Will not pass thru.

Alsa 1.0.11-rc2
Kernel 2.6.15

Thanks!

It certainly looks like it should work... this is the ymfpci driver
right?

If you run iecset audio off first does it work?

Re: [Alsa-user] AC3 Passthru on YMF744 (fortissimo)

2006-01-11 Thread Dave

I wasnt aware of the iecset utility, but I still wasnt able to have any luck

# iecset -c 1
Mode: consumer
Data: non-audio
Rate: 44100 Hz
Copyright: protected
Emphasis: none
Category: PCM coder
Original: original
Clock: 1000 ppm

Both the audio and non-audio settings produced the same results, a loud static
noise.
the thing that worried me was the rate =44100, I run the command iecset -c 1
rate 48000 but it never sticks to that rate.

my sp/dif receiver never goes into ac3 mode. stays in PCM mode which works
fine with non -ac3 content

These cards that claim to have a hardware AC3 or DTS or whatever encoder
do not really have one. It is implemented in software by the Windows

It's impossible to tell from the site whether the encoding is done by
the hardware or the Windows driver. Either way, the ALSA driver does
not support it, and we don't have the hardware specs that would be
needed.

You could ask the vendor about Linux support.
