Try updating to the latest udev LR package your distro offers. I tried that (version 0.97) but it did not help. Very soon there will be e new release of SlackWare, I will wait what happens then. I find it very strange though that kernel 2.6.16.27 works good and 2.6.16.29 hives problems.
