ASA/USA Softball National Office seeks Communications Coordinator

 

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK---The Amateur Softball Association (ASA)/USA Softball, the National Governing Body of Softball in the United States, is seeking applicants for the position of Communications Coordinator. This individual’s primary responsibility include assisting with day-to-day operations within the ASA/USA Softball Communications Department, including website updates, national and international event coverage and media relations from the National Office in Oklahoma City.

 

Interested applicants should include a résumé and a cover letter explaining why they wish to fill the position. Applicants will be screened and a select number could be invited to interview in Oklahoma City. The successful candidate will be brought on board as soon as possible.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

·        Assist with all Communications functions for the ASA and USA Softball brands, including, websites, Inside Pitch, Balls and Strikes Magazine, public relations, and social media.

·        Write press releases and other meaningful stories associated with the business of ASA Softball and USA Softball.

·        Provide Communications, Social Media and Public Relations training to local association staff at regularly scheduled meetings such as the Annual Meeting, Commissioners Meeting and UIC Clinic.

·        Act as the lead on the USA Softball Junior Olympic Player of the Week and other ASA/USA award programs.

·        Assist with all facets of the USA Softball Collegiate Top 25 Poll, Player of the Week and Player of the Year awards. 

·        Coordinate the online-based alumni network for the USA Softball Legacy Club, including newsletters, reunions and special events.

·        Assist in magazine and newsletter layout, designing flyers and posters for advertising, photography, video projects.

·        Assist in managing communication/website staff for ASA National Championships and local and national events.

·        Perform other related duties as assigned and have the ability to travel and work weekends.

 

Education/Experience Requirements

·        Bachelor Degree in communications preferred or equivalent education/work experience.

 

Required or Desired Skills:

·        Excellent written and oral communication skills.

·        Strong interpersonal relations skills, sound judgment, professional demeanor and patience.

·        Organizational skills, time management skills and attention to detail.

·        Social media and digital experience preferred.

·        Computer skills desired: Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Photoshop.

·        Ability to work weekends and occasional travel domestically and internationally.

 

The pay range for this position is $28,000 - $34,000.
