amandad and sendsize hanging on client

2001-09-28 Thread Paul Lussier

Hi all,

I recently added a new client to my backup rotation. The first night
all went well. Last night however the client did not get backed up.
According to the report, the client was off-line.

This morning, I got the amcheck error report stating:

ERROR: ebeneezer NAK: amandad busy

When I logged into ebeneezer, ps revealed that amandad and sendsize
were still running:

  # ps -auxw |grep amanda
  amanda 2378 0.0 0.3 2176 860 ? S 11:49 0:00 amandad
  amanda 2379 0.0 0.3 1832 772 ? S 11:49 0:00 /usr/local/amanda/libexec/selfcheck

an strace -p of the amandad process reveals:

  # strace -p 2378
  select(6, [0 5], NULL, NULL, NULL unfinished ...

an strace of the selfcheck process hangs (i.e., it doesn't return anything)

The debug logs don't seem to reveal anything (I've attached them in
case anyone else sees something I missed).

The client is a RH7.1 system running xinetd with user=amanda,
group=disk. Amanda is a member of both groups amanda and disk.

The server is a debian 2.2 system.

Both systems are running amanda 2.4.2p1

Thanks for any insight anyone can provide!

Seeya,
Paul

Windows and linux

2001-09-28 Thread webmaster

I've been told that Amanada supports both windows and linux clients, but I have a few
questions about this.

1. will it back up both clients in the same tape set?
2. Does it support backing up the data over multiple tapes?
3. Where do I find the clients for windoze 95, nt
4. Does it support windows 2000 as a client?

Any suggestions or helpful hints would be appreciated.
