amrecover question

2003-08-07 Thread vlad f halilow
hello. i have installed amanda 2.4.4 on sparc system, under solaris8. today, i
try to restore dump monthly old. oops :) i found full dump by amadmin find
directive:

2003-07-05 exper /export/home/local 0 servers08 28 OK
2003-07-09 exper /export/home/local 1 servers09 13 OK

(exper is a amanda-server too)
so, a'm run amrecover by 'amrecover cfgname -s host -t host'
after that setdate 2003-07-05, sethost exper, setdisk /export/home/local and
type the 'ls' command that return one line:

-
mrecover ls
2003-07-05 nagios/
-

but directory really contain a lot of subdirs! a'm restore the file 28 from
tape by amrestore program, and file have the normal size (about 400mb) and
contain full dump of selected partioton. after that, i set date by
different full dump:

---
mrecover setdate 2003-07-12
200 Working date set to 2003-07-12.
amrecover ls
2003-07-12 nagios/
amrecover setdate 2003-07-19
200 Working date set to 2003-07-19.
amrecover ls
2003-07-19 nagios/
---

every directory contain one file in one path... by choosing other host that
backed-up i have no problem, only for amanda masterhost... can anybody help
to solve the trouble?

vlad.

Amanda and GPG

2003-08-07 Thread Jack Twilley
I looked over the UChicago site on Amanda and GPG, and found it
curious that they were compressing before encrypting. GPG compresses
as it encrypts, so it seems like the extra gzip stage would only slow
things down. Has anyone else ever done this?

If so, it is trying to print a tape label and doesn't know how.

It undoubtedly already is if you did a make install.

In DailySet1 (or your config dir) put a file of ANY name

changer configuation parameters. You have chosen to call
yours chg-zd-mtx.conf if I understand your setup.

In your amanda.conf file change the parameter changerfile

BUT, and this is a critical BUT, do NOT, (NOT!!) include
the .conf extension.

Personally I think it is silly and inconvenient that when
chg-zd-mtx looks for its config file, it adds a .conf to the
filename specified in amanda.conf. The administrator is
expected to remember to leave it off in the amanda.conf file
for chg-zd-mtx but include it for other changer scripts.

SAVE MY FAMILY

2003-08-07 Thread sam55an

Dear sir,

I know that this letter will come to you as a surprise due to the fact
that we have not yet met each other before, but please I will like you
to consider my present family troubles and be rest assured that there
is no cause for alarm. Please put yourself in my position and help me
the way you will expect people to assist you to redeem your family's
wealth.I am Mr. Samuel Savimbi, son of the late rebel leader Jonas
Savimbi of Angola who was killed on the 22nd of February 2002.
Presently, I am desperately looking for a trustworthy person to assist
me in this confidential business.

My late father, Jonas Savimbi lodged huge sums of money realized from
the sales of diamonds and other precious stones / metals in different
banks in Europe. My father is presently no more, and the movement of
his family members (including me) is highly restricted, all his bank
accounts and properties have been frozen and seized. We are forbidden
to either travel abroad or out of our immediate localities. Presently,
I have just discovered a huge deposit made by my father from the money
realized from the last sales of diamonds before is death .My father
had deposited this money as diplomatic consignment with a security
firm in Europe, I have called the security firm and they have confirm
to me that the consignment is with them. I have all the documents with
me right now that is be needed to collect the consignment from the
security firm, my father has instructed the security firm in his
deposit request to release consignment to any three family members
which includes myself, my mother and only sister who is also dead
incase of emergency or death. Right now my family has given me the
authority to do everything possible to get the consignment out as this
is the only hope we have now to bring the family out of its present
poor financial state.

I am therefore soliciting your help to have this consignment
collected by you and the funds transferred into your account. I will
give you all the necessary documentations to facilitate your
collection of the
consignment personally. The government has no or will never have
knowledge of this business, so there is no need to be worried about
your safety. I guarantee you your safety.Once I have your complete
assurance that you can handle this, I will immediately send to you the
relevant documents that will enable you take possession of the
consignments. This will include certificate of deposit and shipment
airway bill and all other relevant documents.

However, in return for all your assistance we have decided to offer
you 15% of the total amount of money as your share and 5% for all your
expenses which will include your travel expenses and every other
expenses you incure in the cause of this transaction, such as your
telephone bills etc, this makes a total of 20% my family has agreed to
give to you for helping us secure the money.

I am waiting for your response to enable us proceed,And please reply
me at [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Regards,

Samuel Savimbi.

Reading a config file should help. In addition, you'll be less likely
to get surprised down the road if you run the chg-zd-mtx installed
in libexec. Your copy in DailySet1 won't be updated my 'make install'.

Thinking about it for another 5 seconds, it is *really* unlikely
that /bin/sh coredumped on Solaris, no matter *what* we handed
it for input.

More likely that mtx coredumped; do a 'file ./core' to find out.

Also, 'chg-zd-mtx -reset' actually degenerates to
'chg-zd-mtx -slot first'. Once you're reading your config
file, unless you fix your $firstslot, you'll be loading
your cleaning tape, right? You don't want to do that.

You want 'firstslot=1'.

And if I were you, I would set $lastslot to some reasonable small
value; 7, 10, something like that instead of 81, until you have
everything else working smoothly.

 I do this:
 sh chg-zd-mtx -info
 and I get
 1 79 1--missing 4th # here!

So this tells you for sure that chg-zd-mtx is NOT reading your config
file. From chg-zd-mtx.sh.in:

###
# Check if a barcode reader is configured or not. If so, it

Exit 0 $currentslot $numslots 1 $reader

From your amanda.conf below, you still have:

 changerfile /usr/local/etc/amanda/DailySet1/chg-zd-mtx.conf

And so unless your chg-zd-mtx config file is named chg-zd-mtx.conf.conf,
it ain't gonna be found. Please change your changerfile to:

changerfile /usr/local/etc/amanda/DailySet1/chg-zd-mtx

And you'll be much happier. For example, the chg-zd-mtx comments
say:

# All variables are in changerfile.conf where changerfile is set
# in amanda.conf. For example, if amanda.conf has:
#
# changerfile=/etc/amanda/Dailyset1/CHANGER
#
# the variables must be in /etc/amanda/Dailyset1/CHANGER.conf.

(and next step isn't good either...

Maybe there needs to be something addressed to the newbie's when they

everything, please don't complain about spam, viruses, etc. I find
those who are bothered to be unprepared. Get a spam server...deal with

maintain a spam/virus server for the list. This is the 4th or 5th time
this year this subject has gone on for far too long. Amanda is free, the

Dear Friend,

This letter may come as a surprise because we have not met but was borne
out of my sincere desire to establish a business/mutual relationship with you. I got
your contact through the international trade and commerce chamber here in Zurich.

My name is Mr. Alex .M. Williams, the son of Chief Peter. M. Williams(the former
financial director of the sierra- Leone national mining corporation) who was killed
and mutilated by the military junta led by Major, Paul Koroma after over-throwing the
elected government of President Tijan Kabba. Though, I do not know to what extent you
are familiar with events and disturbances in Sierra-Leone but it has a consistent
features in the CNN, BBC news bulletins. The pressure of war drove the rest of our
family out of Sierra-Leone into exile in Switzerland where we have been living under
political asylum for 4 years.

Sadly, my mother died of cancer 3 months ago and was buried in Zurich.
Prior to her death, she handed me over a certificate meant for a secret
deposit, which my father made in a security company in Madrid - Spain. The deposit
which is worth $15,000.000 (Fifteen Million U.S. Dollars) was money paid to the mining
corporation under him by its overseas customers in the heat of the conflict. He made
the deposit in his name with the hope of converting it to his personal use at the end
of the war but was killed when the conflict intensified as a result of his opposition
to the rebel forces. I have contacted the Security Company to confirm the deposit and
establish ownership.

Due to the death of my mother and the continued hostility in Sierra-Leone, I have
decided to solicit for the assistance of an honest and trustworthy person or company
that will assist in the business re-investment of the money. I cannot do it alone due
to my present social status and total ignorance of the business world. You will be
given a negotiable percentage of the money at the end of the transaction.

If you are honest, trustworthy and interested in the above proposal,
contact me immediately through the email indicated above for more details. You must
maintain absolute confidentiality to ensure success. Please, indicate your personal
Tel./Fax nos. when replying . For security reasons, you can contact me either by phone
or through my secured email address as indicated above.

Best Regards,
Mr. Alex .M. Williams.

How about source patches? If you include them in-line, instead
of attaching them, their whitespace can get mangled (tabs turned
into spaces, lines broken in the middle), and that'll keep them
from applying cleanly. Admittedly, this might be more an issue
over on amanda-hackers (in fact I learned about this from
one-time Amanda maintainer Alexandre Oliva, who refused to accept
patches *unless* they were sent as attachments).
