From: Mrs Serena Jones
PLEASE ENDEAVOUR TO USED IT FOR THE CHILDREN OF GOD.
I am the above named person from Kuwait. I am married
to Dr. Harry Jones who worked with Kuwait embassy in Ivory Co

We were married for eleven years without a child. He died a

four days. Before his death we were both born again Christia

sum of$8.6Million (Eight Million six hundred thousand U.S. D

d. Presently, this money is still with the Security Company.
Recently, my Doctor told me that I would not last for the next
three
months due to cancer problem. Though what disturbs me most i

donate this fund to church or better still a christian individ

us to understand that Blessed is the hand that giveth.
I took this decision because I don?t have any child that wil
l inherit this money and my husband relatives are not Christi
ans and I don?t want my husband?s hard earned money to be misu

will be used in an ungodly manner. Hence the reason for taking
this bold decision. I am not afraid of death hence I know whe

and I shall hold my peace. I don?t need any telephone communi

them to know about this development. With God all things are p
ossible. As soon as I receive your reply I shall give you the

Did you ever learn anything more about this? I'd like to upgrade

thoughts first -- and those of anyone else who cares to speak up.

Thanks much.

As many linux distributions ship with a firewall installed
and configured (just as MS Windows with a personal firewall)
it could indeed block traffic to its own sockets, when slightly
misconfigured, or with paranoid settings.

I believe there is a dumper->taper connection, for direct-to-tape
dumps. That's how I read docs/PORT.USAGE, anyway -- see the bits
on stream_server() and stream_client(). But both of those
processes run on the same host, so it's still hard to see how a

It looks as though the ones that succeeded all dumped via holding
disk, so in those cases there was indeed no need for dumpers and
taper to talk directly.

Yeah, that was the part that got my attention too! But then,
it's 2.4.2, so maybe that bug's been fixed.

Permission denied error from Amanda client, why?

2003-09-29 Thread John Grover
I am getting an error on one of my client boxes whenever Amanda tries to
back it up. Running amcheck returns the following error:

Amanda Backup Client Hosts Check

ERROR: : [could not access /dev/vx/rdsk/var (/var):
Permission denied]
ERROR: : [could not access /dev/vx/rdsk/rootvol (/):
Permission denied]
Client check: 4 hosts checked in 1.147 seconds, 2 problems found

I've verified that the Amanda user is a member of the sys group, (the
directories are owned by root:sys with rwxr-xr-x permissions). The
client is a SunFire280r running Solaris 8 and Veritas 3.5. Another
identically configured machine does not have a problem. What else can I
check?

That's strange, because there is no immediate communication between
these two, as far as I know.
Driver is connected with a pipe to each dumper and to taper-reader.
There is also a taper-writer, which communicates with a pipe and a
shared memory segment with taper-reader.
There is no network connection where a firewall could interfere.
Unless I'm completely wrong of course.
Strange is also that some partitions on that host got backed up, while
others did not. Or do you mean there a timeout problem in the firewall
between client parts of amanda and the server?
I'm glad to be enlightened, it was very strange indeed (also because
there was no error msg whatsoever in the mail report, except that it
simply failed).

Hi,

I'm using amanda 2.4.2 on debian woody. Tapedrive is a HP DDS3 tape.

I got the following report from amdump. Anyone who knows what this
could be?

These dumps were to tape VRIJDAG_01.
The next tape Amanda expects to use is: MAANDAG_01.
