Dumpcycle 0 doesn't do just full backups of DLEs
Hi, we have one set with dumpcycle 0 for monthly off-site backups that was running fine for a long time. Last weekend it was the first time, that amanda (3.3.0) decided not to do level-0-only for this set. Many DLEs were just dumped in level 1: planner: nucleus.mr.lfmg.de /BACKUP 20110903210001 0 [dumps too big, 1320 KB, full dump delayed] planner: genome.mr.lfmg.de /BACKUP 20110903210001 0 [dumps too big, 2916 KB, full dump delayed] There were enough usable tapes in the library (and if not, amanda left the rest in the holdingdisk in the past). Also the holdingdisk is having 2TB free space (what is enough to hold almost the whole backup). Any idea what could be wrong and how can I really force amanda to do only level-0 (dumpcycle 0 doesn't seem to be enough). Incremental and Full scripts
I have been learning about amanda-scripts [1] to run innobackupex [2] to backup my MySQL databases. After reading an googling some time I still have two questions I hope someone here can answer: 1 - In what stage shall I run the script to dump the DB using innobackupex? The documentation is not really clear what each stage is (I can make educated guesses) and would like the orientation of experts. I believe the DB dump must be done at pre-host-estimate or pre-dle-estimate. 2 - I there a way for the script to know if amanda is doing a full backup or a incremental backup? I would like to run innobackupex accordingly. That is tell innobackupex to do a full dump when amanda is doing a full backup and to do a incremental dump when amanda is doing a incremental backup. Re: Dumpcycle 0 doesn't do just full backups of DLEs
Any idea what could be wrong and how can I really force amanda to do only level-0 (dumpcycle 0 doesn't seem to be enough). This got me earlier this week; from the amanda.conf: This parameter may also be set in a specific dumptype (see below). This value sets the default for all dumptypes so must appear in amanda.conf before any dumptypes are defined. HTH Alexis

And it worked for years now. That's what's confusing me. -- Marc Muehlfeld (IT-Leiter) Zentrum fuer Humangenetik und Laboratoriumsmedizin Dr. Klein und Dr. Rost Lochhamer Str. 29 - D-82152 Martinsried Telefon: +49(0)89/895578-0 - Fax: +49(0)89/895578-780 http://www.medizinische-genetik.de

systemd
Does anyone use systemd http://www.freedesktop.org/wiki/Software/systemd on a server running amanda ? If yes, please share your amanda(d).service-file with me. Thanks, Stefan
