I've found the misspelled entry in the hosts file on TLM, and I need to
copy a directory, but I've got 9 more errors from amcheck saying root
isn't allowed to run tar in the amgtar script. Sample:

HOST lathe ERROR: security file '/etc/amanda-security.conf' do not allow
to run '/usr/bin/tar' as root for 'amgtar:gnutar_path'

How do I fix this? Its only been working fine for a decade or more.
Paranoia really should be painfull...

TLM is a small lathe, and is actually named lathe, but has earned the
nic-name of The Little Monster because its 1.5 hp spindle motor is quite
good at finding other breakable parts in the drive chain, hence is known
planet wide as TLM. :)

Thanks all.

That I don't know. Amanda ran normally early this morning, but bitched
loudly because lathe.coyote.den wasn't available. All other machines in
the list were fine.

Sample cmd line to determine that, run by whom?

Thank you.

new problem, amrecover can't find disklist

2020-09-30 Thread Gene Heskett
Greetings all;

I haven't run amrecover for quite a while, and today it claims no host
I've named is in the disklist. The disklist is fine, all there.

So obviously I didn't scratch this puppies ears recently enough.

I did get the last level0 of the /home/gene for that machine out and
written to a usb key so I think I have the data I need to sneakernet up
the hill and bring the linuxcnc app to life.

But I'd also like a hint as to what I did wrong. I was doing it as root
and I'll bet I should have su'd to amanda or backup from root.

Sometimes I think at 32gigs, this machine has better memory than I ;-)
