Strange DUMP Summary
I've inherited an AMANDA backup solution and am trying to work through some problems. I get this report when running amdump to perform a full dump of these machines. Can someone tell me what "RESULTS MISSING" means? I'm new to AMANDA and don't have much of a clue as to what could be happening. General question on AMANDA
Can someone tell me how AMANDA decides what level backup to do? I'm getting level 1 everyday of the week. Not that this is a bad thing, but I'm new to AMANDA and am trying to get a better understanding of the configuration here. I thought AMANDA did incremental backups. Mulit-Volume backups in AMANDA
Can someone tell me how AMANDA determines when it has reach the end of a tape or how it determines the total tape length? I'm worried that stuff written to the end of tape might be lost because AMANDA is running out of tape unknowingly. In general: How does amanda break up the backups so that they are written to span consecutive volumes assuring that no data is lost? Thank You, Ed --- Edward M.
