HP with compression
Hi there! We're running amanda with a 20/40Gig HP-DAT tape drive, so I should be able to backup at least 20 Gigs, right ? Because we're touching the 20Gig limit, and need some time to choose the right new tape device, I tried to enable the devices hardware compression by using 'mt datcompression on'. How do I have to interpret the results of the tapetype command run with enabled compression ? Shouldn't there be more tape space available now, or does the compression not work ? define tapetype HPDAT { comment "just produced by tapetype program" length 16385 mbytes filemark 32 kbytes speed 2546 kps } Thank you :-) Cheers, -- Mirko
amrecover problem
Hi We set up a new amanda-2.4.2 backup-server, and right now I'm involved in testing the backup and recover with the server. While testing amrecover, some strange behaviour showed up: I'm unable to see all backed up files while browsing trough the directorys via amrecover, but viewing the index-files manualy showed that the files are included in the backup... Whats the problem with this ? We use amanda on Solaris, but with gnu-tar... Anyone can help ? Thanks, -- Mirko
Hotbackup with
Hi there! We're doing a hot backup of our CMS-Server and I sometimes get a 'file changed as we read it: No such file or directory' error. Is there a way to do a tar hotbackup anyway without shutting down the service accessing this file ? Thanks... -- Mirko
