2000-12-20 Thread Roshan Rogge

Hi,

i have installed amanda 2.4.2 on a suse linux 7.0 machine.

i will backup a client system called stat, i have insert it in the disklists
with stat /home eth0. before i want to backup this system, i have tested to
backup the server, with the following entry in the disklist amanda1 /home eth0.
<- the server can be backuped.

when i start the command amcheck conf -c, the result is this:

Amanda Backup Client Hosts Check

ERROR: stat: [hostnames do not match: amanda1 amanda1.popken.de]
Client check: 1 host checked in 0.264 seconds, 1 problem found

(brought to you by Amanda 2.4.2)

Please help me.

You can backup reiser filesystems with tar. If you make a always-full backup
with reiserfs, it will fail. because the dumper program, does not use reiserfs.
you must run a root-tar backup.

Can the error appear through a bad termination of the scsi bus???

The result of this command is: AMANDA: TAPEEND DATE X it is a 32k file

> $ mt -f /dev/nst0 rewind
> $ mt -f /dev/nst0 fsf 1
> $ dd if=/dev/nst0 bs=32k of=/dev/null

The result of this command is only: 1 + 0 records in
1 + 0 records out

The problem happens on all tapes i use.

Re: amanda cron job doesn't start?

2000-12-06 Thread Roshan Rogge

Hi,

i think you must give the full path of the programs like: 0 18 * * 1-5
/usr/local/sbin/amcheck merten

and make two entries one with amdump and another for amcheck. look for a mail
from crontab, there must be the error

Also viel spass noch/Good luck
