hallo and good morning again, is it dangerous to reduce the value of etimeout in the amanda.conf file when using hard-disk dump? I think a default of 300 is very high. Can the result of dump be damaged if it is of the value 100? with regards pascal

Hallo everyone, I´d like to know if it is possible to prepare a floppy-disk to reinstall an OS with it. E.g. a harddisk crashs and a full dump has been made before of every partition. I want to use a new PC with a nonformated harddisk drive then insert a floppy-disk and run amanda. Is that possible and if yes, how? Maybe that question is somehow crazy but that´s what they want me offer them at my practical training. I have no idea. With regards Pascal (Köln, Collogne)

Good morning, I would like to know how an amanda RPM can be installed with the option of a special port range for firewalling rules. e.g udp port range 890-895. How exactly has the syntax of the rpm command to look like? As I have already installed Amanda and configured the amanda.conf file I would also like to know if it is possible to commit the portrange of amanda by hindsight? with regards and hopeful to get a satisfying answer pascal

I think I have big problems with my Fedora Core 1 operating system. After I have tested amanda by backing up big partitions from a client, my Backupserver can´t reboot properly. It hangs and the message: "activating swap area" is the last message printed on screen. What could have happened?
