I am currently playing with this setup. I got it running with gnutar except that gnutar returns an error 2 even if you add the option to ignore failed reads, which then causes AMANDA to go "dump failed. oh well. no sense getting the file from that client" even though the actual tar was successful. :-(
So now I will play with hfspax. If it works then I will post my "step by step instructions". >Date: Mon, 27 Jan 2003 18:33:59 -0800 (PST) >Subject: amanda, os-x, hfspax ? >From: "wr" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> >To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> >X-Priority: 3 >Importance: Normal >MIME-Version: 1.0 >Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit >X-Envelope-To: <"|IFS=' ' && exec /usr/local/bin/procmail -Y -f- || exit 75 #bmw"> (uid 16045) >X-Orcpt: rfc822;[EMAIL PROTECTED] > >Hi all > >Has anyone tried backing up os-x boxes using Amanda and hfspax? > >I'd be happy to hack at it (in the most amateurish way) if someone would >kindly point out the pertinent points-of-interest, areas to poke at... :-) > >WR > > > -Broderick Wood- Analyst, Systems Support Group Department of Computing Sciences Athabasca Hall, Room 205 University of Alberta Edmonton, Alberta, Canada T6G 2E1 (780) 492-5018 -The box said, "Requires Windows 98 or better."
