Re: Sun StorageTek C2 Autoloader
Oooh, Oooh, me, I am, I am ! We moved from the StorEdge L9 to the C2, it was a simple drop in with only the predictable minor modifications to amanda.conf for changerdev and tapedev, well, plus the OS mod to support it. The L9 had discrete SCSI id for the robot and the tape drive, with the C2 its the SAME SCSI ID but unique LUN, I can provide details if you need. Its working fine, well, fine once we upgraded from v12 of the C2 firmware to v31 (where it was still flakey) and I was able to induce SUN to provide the patch for the v32 firmware, it wasn't fully SUN aproved at the time but has been working fine and was required for me to use the drive at all, since the "picker" just wasn't operating properly. Otavio, I'm not using that particular library, but I'm using SDLT-320 drives, so if you need a tapetype definition, let me know. Without knowing the OS you're using, we're not going to be able to tell you much. I'm having good results under Linux with the mtx program to control the library, and having AMANDA use the chg-zd-mtx glue script. Cheers, Eric

StorageTek 9714 support

StorageTEK 9730
Hi, We just ordered a StorageTEK 9730 Automated Tape Library. It comes with a 30 cartridge capacity and 2 DLT drives. We plan to run this with Amanda vers 2.4.3 on our Solaris 6 Sparc E6500. I have a couple questions/requests: Is anyone out there running a config like the one I just mentioned: (Amanda 2.4.3 with a StorageTek 9730, running on Solaris 6 with an E6500 platform) And, if so, Are there any concerns/bugs/gotcha's that I ought to be aware of. And, could you post the tapechange portion of your amanda.conf file and any other parts of that file you think are relevant to this type of config. I did do a search of the archives for anything with StorageTek and found only 1 entry, so I am thinking that this question won't fall under RTFA. thanks, Rich Quinn
Amanda setup with StorageTek L40 and 4 LTO drives
Hello, I just finished installing a StorageTek L40 library with 40 slots and with 4 LTO drives. Using mtx-1.2.16rel I can access and move tapes from slots and drives even though I have to do a 'mt offline' to get the robot to pick tapes from drives as otherwize I get scsi timeouts (is this a known behaviour?). This tape library will be used to backup a 3TB raid systems, which is partitionned for the moment with one chunk of 500GB and a lot of chunks of 100GB. Any recommendations on how to setup amanda to backup this raid? I'm planning on having a dumpcycle of 6 weeks, a runspercycle of 30 and tapecycle of 40. Does this make sense at all? One more thing: what is the most effective way of using the 4 LTO drives? Should I have more than 1 config? TIA, jf
