RE: What to do about the holidays?
The way we handle it here is to have several people who know how to do the tape change, and make sure one of them comes in and does it. So far, we haven't all been out of town on the same day. > -Original Message- > From: KEVIN ZEMBOWER [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] > Sent: Wednesday, December 19, 2001 10:56 AM > To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > Subject: What to do about the holidays? > > > It just dawned on me that I won't be in the office next Monday or > Tuesday. Is this what most folks are doing? I could also That's what I do. Provided you've a large enough holding disk to provide space for a couple of backups, you're certainly in better shape if you run the backups than if you don't. > comment out the cron jobs for Monday and Tuesday easily enough. Joshua, thank you for your advice. That's exactly what I'll do. -Kevin Zembower >>> Joshua Baker-LePain <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> 12/19/01 11:29AM >>> On Wed, 19 Dec 2001 at 10:55am, KEVIN ZEMBOWER wrote > It just dawned on me that I won't be in the office next Monday or > Tuesday. What to do about the holidays?
It just dawned on me that I won't be in the office next Monday or Tuesday. I have a backup cronned for M-F at 1800. My first idea of what to do is just to leave the system alone, let it backup to disk Monday and Tuesday, and first thing Wednesday, amflush the backup to tape. Is this okay to do? Is this what most folks are doing? I could also comment out the cron jobs for Monday and Tuesday easily enough. Would this be better? Thanks for your suggestions. -Kevin Zembower - E.
