This is the user that you declared at .configure --with-user=amanda This user must have a specific home directory, like any Unix user. 2) connect on sunny3 as user amanda 3) do a "cd" to go to amanda home directory 4) use your prefered text editor to create the file .amandahosts and make it contain sunny3.neptune.com amanda That should do the trick Olivier

I tried adding the .amandahostfile for sunny1 to in the sunny3 /usr/local and /home/src/amanda/amanda-2.4.1p1 directories - chown root:amanda and I am still getting the same access as amanda not allowed from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Am I placing the .amadnahost file in the correct locaiton? I am reading the FAQ's now.
