that has been happening to me in the last week as well

amavisd reload should empty the tmp files

 Ditch clamav-milter process, you don't need it.

how?

 Install and start clamd, check/adjust the location
 of a socket if necessary, don't forget about
 AllowSupplementaryGroups in its config file
 as I mentioned.

i dont know the difference of clamav-milter and the daemon.

the clamd daemon i run came with SA i think...

what i see is that when i modify my clamd.conf to show
/var/run/clamav/clamd.pid  and not milter

clamd starts but i see no process for it?

that is strange since i see the log saying it started

 ok. And have you installed a start script
 (maybe /etc/init.d/clamav-daemon)?
 What is the entry of CLAMAVCONF=?
 Is this started?

#!/bin/sh
# Start/stop/restart clamav.

# Start clamav:
clamav_start() {
if [ -x /usr/sbin/clamd ]; then
CLAMD_COMMAND=/usr/sbin/clamd
echo Starting clamd daemon: $CLAMD_COMMAND
eval $CLAMD_COMMAND
# Give clamd a chance to make the socket
sleep 5 # 1 second is *not* enough
MILTER_COMMAND=/usr/sbin/clamav-milter --external  \
--quiet --dont-scan-on-error --local --max-children=2   \
local:/var/run/clamav-milter/milter.sock
echo Starting clamav-milter daemon:  $MILTER_COMMAND
eval $MILTER_COMMAND
fi
}

# Stop clamav:
clamav_stop() {
cd /var/run/clamav-milter
echo Stopping clamd
if test -r clamd.pid; then
kill $(cat clamd.pid)
else
killall clamd
fi
echo Stopping clamav-milter
if test -r milter.pid; then
kill $(cat milter.pid)
else
killall clamav-milter
fi
}

case $1 in
'start')
clamav_start
;;
'stop')
clamav_stop
;;
'restart')

  clamav_stop
sleep 1
clamav_start
;;
*)
echo Usage: $0 start|stop|restart
exit 1
;;
esac

 What shows
 ps ax | grep clamdsh-3.1$ locate clamd.conf
/etc/clamd.conf
/etc/clamd.conf.orig
/etc/clamd.conf.new
/usr/man/man5/clamd.conf.5.gz
 after starting?

 Do you have a folder /var/run/clamav?

yes

 Where is the clamd.conf? Do you have maybe a second clamd.conf?
 Show us please locate clamd.conf
 Show us please the clamd.conf

 Does the socket /var/run/clamav/clamd exist? Looks like it doesn't.
 The clamd and amavisd must agree on the location of clamd socket.

 On the amavisd side the location of this socket is specified in
 amavisd.conf in a clamd AV entry:

   ['ClamAV-clamd',
 \ask_daemon, [CONTSCAN {}\n, /var/run/clamav/clamd],
 qr/\bOK$/, qr/\bFOUND$/,
 qr/^.*?: (?!Infected Archive)(.*) FOUND$/ ],

 Modify it if clamd puts it somewhere else.

 And don't miss the following from INSTALL file:

   If different UID is preferred for an AV scanner, a solution for
   ClamAV is to add user clamav to the amavis group, and then add
   AllowSupplementaryGroups to clamd.conf.

in my previous version of 2.2.1 i had

 No, I meant what I wrote. The problem is fixed in SA 3.1.0 (still in
 pre-release and CVS), but not in 3.0.4. So the safety is provided by
 either upgrading SA to 3.1 (rc1 or CVS trunk or a release when it will
 be available), or to upgrade amavisd-new to 2.3.3, which provides
 a safety net to catch a problem and prevent it from causing damage.

sorry ,
thanks for the clarification

Re: [AMaViS-user] Setting to discard spam

2005-08-09 Thread boricua

  If I recall, you are tagging and sending all mail to your users, and
  they are using procmail to place them in a spam folder (or something
  like that). If so, I would think the procmail recipe could be used to
  delete the high scoring stuff, but I don't use procmail, so I'm not
  certain.

  X-Spam-Report is normally not provided by default because is it quite
  chatty.
  You have to request this one explicitly: $sa_spam_report_header=1;

  i tried that still no x-spam-report i wonder if postfix need to reload?
 I would get rid of the headers that the other server writes, and be satisfied
 with the headers that amavisd-new provides. You might consider
 upgrading to amavisd-new version 2.3.2, then you can also get
 numerical scores in the X-Spam-Status: header, like this:

i see it only in email that is tagged as spam

 Set this in your amavisd.conf; you'ill see ALL it:
 $sa_tag_level_deflt  = undef;

that  won't do it

 This header was probably there before the message was scanned by
 amavisd-new on your system, show the rest of the header.

 If is was spam according to your system, it would say something like:

i am using postfix and amavisd-new

in postfix i have the following.
content_filter = smtp-amavis:[127.0.0.1]:10024

which with the lirrlw i know leads to believe this will cause all mail to go
thru amavis

i get mail directly to my server and i use fetchmail to get email from another
pop3

i.e the email u sent i dont see any spam info ues or no.
