[AMaViS-user] Amavis-new unable to connect to ClamAV.

2010-09-14 Thread Oliver Schinagl
 Hello all,

I'm running amavisd-new-2.6.3-r2 with clamav-0.96.1 on a 64bit hardened
Gentoo Base System release 1.12.13 (without SELinux) and going through
postfix-2.6.6.

Amavisd-new however is unable to connect to clamav's socket, according
to the logs.

Sep 14 13:03:30 7of9 amavis[16718]: (16718-07) (!!)ClamAV-clamd
av-scanner FAILED: run_av error: Too many retries to talk to
/var/run/clamav/clamd.sock (Can't connect to UNIX socket
/var/run/clamav/clamd.sock: Connection refused) at (eval 99) line 326.\n
Sep 14 13:03:30 7of9 amavis[16718]: (16718-07) (!!)WARN: all primary
virus scanners failed, considering backups

The socket however has all the correct permissions:
  File: `/var/run/clamav/clamd.sock'
Size: 0 Blocks: 0 IO Block: 4096 socket
Device: 903h/2307d Inode: 63373 Links: 1
Access: (0666/srw-rw-rw-) Uid: ( 116/ clamav) Gid: (10024/ clamav)

Amavis obvious is part of the correct group,
7of9 tmp # grep amavis /etc/group
amavis:x:10021:clamav
clamav:x:10024:amavis

and clamav does allow other groups to access the _world_ writable socket.
# Initialize supplementary group access (clamd must be started by root).
AllowSupplementaryGroups yes

I've checked all the obvious flags and options but I just can't seem to
figure it out. And the frustrating part, I have a remote server setup
identically (as far as I can tell) and it works just fine.

Any pointers, tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I did
try the clamav mailing list, but they couldn't help me any further.

Thanks for your time,

Oliver

After that, the rest fails obviously too.

Initially, I started at the clamav mailing list. The reason was because
freshclam failed to access the daemon aswell.

WARNING: Clamd was NOT notified: Can't connect to clamd through
/var/run/clamav/clamd.sock

is in my freshclam logs, so any chance you know what's causing this, or
shall I try the clamav list (again)?

Thanks,

[AMaViS-user] ClamAV and PAX

2010-09-14 Thread Oliver Schinagl
 Hi all,

I wrote a few weeks ago about clamav not playing nice with amavis-new.
Turns out, clamd keeps crashing due to PAX. Bug report
https://wwws.clamav.net/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=2092 lists the dirty.
Just and FYI :)

Thanks for everybody's help though!

Hi

Recently I get the following error message in my mail logs stating that SA

Googeling for it I found messages dating from late 2005 mentioning a
performance issue with the default database and they recommend a switch to

2007-01-04 Thread Oliver Gros

Otavio:

Do you use some other applications whit SpamAssassin, like Razor2,
 Pyzor and/or DCC ?

No I am not using any other software.

Because in my servers I had the same problems, and
it's happen because this softwares need to access some external server
with diferent ports (e.g.: TCP 6207, TCP 7, TCP 2703, ...), so you
need do grant this acess in your firewall.

So I think a firewall problem can be excluded.

[AMaViS-user] SMTP-result error found

2006-03-02 Thread Oliver Geisen

Hello,

i've encountered a problem with amavisd-new.
When a mail has multiple recipients, one local and one remote,
amavisd will create 2 messages in two independent mail-sessions, but
report only a single queue-id back to the calling smtp-client.

Let's take a look at the logs to illustrate that in the following
configuration:

[:25,postfix] - [:10025,transp.proxy] - [:10026,postfix] - [:

[AMaViS-user] Copy mails before/after amavis

Hello,

is it possible to copy mails just before they enter and leave amavis
into a given directory ?
I don't want to do it with other software because its a very limited
function and i think it's overkilled to use postfix-instances for this.

[AMaViS-user] Unpacker für StuffIt

2005-12-14 Thread Oliver Geisen

Hello,

i wonder if anyone has made a module to handle stuffit-archives
(sit,sit-x) from Macintosh with amavis.

There is a Linux commandline-unpacker freely available at stuffit.com.

[AMaViS-user] Read notify-templates from file

2005-12-14 Thread Oliver Geisen

Hello,

is there a way, built into amavis, to load notify message templates
from file, instead of changeing them in the source ?

[AMaViS-user] Customize notify messages

2005-12-14 Thread Oliver Geisen

Hello,

i tried to customize the notification messages from amavisd-new and
ran into trouble.
It seem's, regardless of what i'm doing, that amavis appends the
original mail header at the end of the notification mail to a sender.
Unfortunately amavis seems not to distinguish between virus- and
banned mails.

Is there a way to change this?

[AMaViS-user] unknown files passes virus check

2005-12-12 Thread Oliver Geisen

Hello,

i'm new to amavis. There is one thing that i worry about the way
amavis do the virus-checking:

Why do amavis handle unknown filetypes (e.g. unknown archives, like
SITX or so) as OK and letting them through ?

I think this behaveiour is very insecure.
Can i change this ?

Regards,

[AMaViS-user] Amavis.log

2005-06-21 Thread Oliver Marshall
Does anyone know how I would go about having the amavis.log file gzipped
each night ? I just came in to find that the postfix mail server had no
disk space left and mails were being dumped due to the amavis log file
being about 1.5gb.

Thanks

Olly
