Update Device ID database for AMD Barcelo

2022-09-23 Thread Luya Tshimbalanga

Hello team,

I just got a Dell Inspiron 14 7425 2-in-1 laptop equipped with Ryzen 7
5825u and graphics is a refreshed Vega 8 with 8 CU . Currently, the
graphics card part reads RENOIR on GNOME Settings > About and it should
be "AMD Radeon(TM) Graphics" or "AMD Radeon(TM) Vega 8 Graphics"
following the name convention from Device Info
(https://github.com/GPUOpen-Tools/device_info/blob/master/DeviceInfo.cpp#L546-L625).

A ticket is already opened on
https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/mesa/drm/-/issues/81 and it will be nice
to update the database.

Thanks in advance.

[Follow-Up] Status of AMD Sensor Fusion hub

2019-11-17 Thread Luya Tshimbalanga

Hello team,

What is the current status of AMD Sensour Fusion hub driver for the
Linux kernel. Last month summary was the FCH team restructured the code
and the initial implementation should be ready.

I looked at the Linux IIO patchwork mailing list [1] to try it and
provide a feedback for the sensor fusion to not available.

Thanks in advance for the update.

Re: [Regression] Broken Raven Ridge firmware on kernel 5.3.11 and up

2019-11-14 Thread Luya Tshimbalanga
Thanks Alex for the quick reply. The kernel in question is from Fedora
that somehow failed to install the firmware in the initrd. The firmware
is present as highlighted on the bugzilla
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1772313#c4

Awaiting for the Fedora Kernel team to investigate the root cause.

The FCH team has an initial implementation done. IIRC, they are just
cleaning things up and restructuring based on community
recommendations. I think the patches should be available soon if they
are not already.

Currently, convertible laptops like HP Envy x360 lack that capability.
It will be great to get a follow-up for testing purpose.

Thank for you making mobile Raven Ridge nearly fully functional with the
open source driver for multiple devices like HP Envy x360 Ryzen 2500u.
However, missing is the ability to auto-rotate the screen when switching
from landscape to portrait in tablet mode.

Which channel will be better to request enabling that function in open
source driver? See the related issue below:

I will be willing to test such driver to report the functionality.

To reproduce the bug, grab the latest snapshot of linux-firmware
20160816 (git7c3dfc0b).
Install latest kernel 4.8.0+ and also staging kernels.
GPU lockup happens on boot on both amdgpu and radeon drivers.

GPU lockup with amdgpu driver

2016-08-31 Thread Luya Tshimbalanga
Upon recommendation from Phoronix comment, here is the bug report.[1]

Updating linux-firmware snapshot from 20160609 (gita4bbc811) to 20160816
(git7c3dfc0b) caused a GPU lockup on enabled amdgpu driver for CIK (Sea
Island) card affecting kernel 4.8+ and the staging kernel branches. An
example below during the boot process:

radeon :00:01.0: GPU lockup (current fence id 0x0003 last fence
id 0x0004 on ring 0)
Aug 29 16:51:37 kernel: radeon :00:01.0: ring 0 stalled for more than
10581msec

Reverting the linux-firmware snapshot to 20160609 fixed the issue. Will
it possible to fix? What will be the step to provide the traceback ?

Test is done with ASUS X550ZE powered by AMD A10 7400P featuring Radeon
R7 M265DX
