[AMRadio] Heath tubes

2006-10-28 Thread Alan Beck

Does anyone have NOS tubes or recent tubes for the HR-10 RX by heath.

Basically I think I need a 6X4 and 2 6BE8's to start with to clean
things up.

When I turn up my RF gain the frequency shifts. The RF gain is going to
ground via the cathode of the first 6BE8 in the circuit.

Alan

Re: [AMRadio] Heath tubes

2006-10-28 Thread k0ng

Alan: I have a friend whose HR-10B does the same thing. A new tube may not
fix the problem. We have speculated that the voltage regulator for the
converter tube might not be stable enough or changeing the gain
control setting

may cause the load to the HF oscillator to shift which would indicate the need
for a buffer between oscillator and mixer. Again this is just speculation but
I would expect this low cost receiver to shift a bit. My Drake 2C does the
same thing but only when I turn up or down the volume! Not the same circuit
but similiar results. Good luck.

[AMRadio] 10m AM Calling frequencies?

2006-10-28 Thread RJ Mattson
The band is just too dead to monitor 10m with only my Gonset G28 :-(
I have 5 memories to program on my htx-10 a 10m all mode xcvr.
29.0 is a known AM calling frequency. Any others?
So far I have programmed

28.2 IARU cw beacons
28.4 ssb calling
29.0 am calling
29.6 fm calling

Do I have them correct?
Any 10m cw calling freq?

10 meter SSB portion was alive all day(10/28) with many signals. Lots and
lots of DX and U. S. stations. 10 meter AM dead.

[AMRadio] 10 meter frequencies

2006-10-28 Thread Mike Duke, K5XU
It sounds like you have the voice frequencies covered well.

One possible cw frequency is 28.060. That's the QRP operating frequency.
Those of us who operate qrp will often call cq there just to test the
propagation.

Most of the other cw is in the first 25 khz of the band unless there is a
contest.

[AMRadio] 15 10 meters

2006-10-28 Thread Mike Duke, K5XU
Ever wondered how a contest will cause the bands to open for the duration of
the event, then immediately die again? Excluding 6 meters, you rarely see
the bands dead during a contest, and full of life afterwards.

As was mentioned in another post, both 15 and 10 were open today. Judging by
the strength of the ssb signals into Mississippi, AM would have probably
been marginal at best.

However, I suspect some good AM contacts could have occurred on 15 if we
could have plowed through the piles of contesters.

I'll try to monitor 21.425 as much as possible on Sunday just in case any AM
appears. Then, I'll move up the band if necessary.

How's that for optimism?
