[AMRadio] Re: AMRadio Digest, Vol 48, Issue 24
Two things seem to come to the surface in my dealings with the KW-1: the mod iron certainly can't be accused of being overbuilt and running it at 100% likely approaches its limits; and a quad of 6B4Gs instead of a pair would've worked better for driving it, especially at the 12,000 winding. ~ Todd, KA1KAQ You are right. A pair of 6B4Gs is not sufficient to drive the 810 modulators. I use a pair of 810's in my homebrew xmtr, and drive them with a quad of 2A3's, which are equivalent to 6B4G's. A pair of 845's would be better still. [AMRadio] T-3 testing
Ed, thanks. Now I just need to clean up the workbench so I can see the top of it again. 73, Terry, KC9KEL The T3 is an excellent mike, and it had a wide audio bandwidth. It was designed by Astatic, as a high-fidelity microphone. You can plug it into any amp, with a phono input to test it. It may sound a bit tinny since it's a very hi impedance mike (but the RIAA curve in the phono input should compensate). Ed, VA3ES BRBRBR**BRStart the year off right.
