[AMRadio] used tubes for sale part 1

2008-02-04 Thread Edward B Richards
Below are listed the used tubes we have for sale. The
format is the tube type, followed by the price code in
parentheses, followed by the quantity that we have.
EXAMPLE: 12AU6 (1) 14, next type. This indicates we
have 14 each type 12AU6 for price code 1. The price
codes are: 1=$.50 per tube, 2=$1.00 per tube, 3=$2.00
per tube, 4=$4.00 per tube. Our computer sorts by
looking at the first digit, therefore a 12 volt tube
will appear among the 1 volt tubes. We will test all
the tubes that we can before shipping. Any bad tubes
can be returned postpaid for a refund. To minimize
handling we request a minimum purchase of $5.00 per
order. Shipping is extra. Because of the size we are
sending the list in 2 parts. This is part #1. Please
respond directly to us at [EMAIL PROTECTED] , not to the
reflector. Thank you. Ed K6UUZ Spencer N6IWY.

[AMRadio] My latest toy has arrived, an ART-13A

2008-02-04 Thread jeremy-ca
I dont know exactly what I was expecting but not a 74# package. Its been
about 50 years since Ive seen one up close and I didnt realize how compact
that weight is contained.

It appears completely untouched since surplused by the military, no dents
and only a few minor scratches. And 60 years of dust from dry indoor
storage. The center power connector is attached but the other is missing.
The calibration book was included.

So, now, what do I do with it? What are the best references to get this
beast on the air? I dont want to make any unnecessary changes that wont
benefit its use.

How much overlap is at the 2 and 18 Mc band edges? Will this cover 160 and
17M phone bands?

Carl the title bar did not display the model. The title is too long and
the only way I knew is that I have the balloon enable on my browser that

My tab was set to just show the first part. The ART-13 was cutoff. I just
clicked the message and read it. In the message header the title is too
small to read easily.

I am using OE6.

Anyone recall the Golden Gate circuit that appeared in the new CQ
Mobile Handbook (second edition, 1956)? It used 1/2 of a 12AT7 for a
crystal oscillator driving a 6146 and screen modulated by the other
half of the 12AT7. I'd kind of like to check out this rig if anyone
could help me find a copy of the article.

Thanks

JT,

When you get the file, buzz it this way. Sounds like another cool
Glowbug transmitter project.

Re: [AMRadio] Golden Gate

2008-02-04 Thread k0ng

I may have a copy somewhere. Frank Jones gets credit from me as the inventor
of the Golden Gate Modulator. I used the circuit in about 1960 to modulate a
ARC-5 transmitter. Worked great but was a little short on audio. Talk loud.

Will let you know.

BTW, it has the 200-600 Kc LF module and Ive determined it is actually the
Navy ATC and not the ART-13A. The seller probably got confused by the LF
module.

Folks might also look into Sun's Star Office Suite - does each and
everything that Micr$..t does, thats WP, Spreadsheet, Database,
Powerpoint, etc etc - the whole thing is $80... I use it heavily in all
of my business ventures, and have yet to find an incompatibility... 80
bux for all of it.

Then of course, use FireFox for a browser and Thunderbird for your email
- you won't be subject to the whims an vagaries of the MicroSheep (can you
tell I've little use for the boys and girls in Redmond??) and you'll be a
whole lot safer, as well

Hi Gary
Are you still looking for a panel?
If so, I'll send a photo of one I have in storage.
If I remember, it is still attached to a stripped chassis. No cabinet.

I'm looking for a Johnson Viking Ranger front panel in good to excellent
condition.
Does anyone have one they might sell? I prefer only the front panel
but might consider buying your defunct rig for parts.
