I thought the article was kinda of lame, but I am sure they were writing it
for non-hams. However I sure loved that old picture!

Now that's pretty darn cool! How many of todays yout' even get that
opportunity to develop respect for lethal high voltages ;-)

I know they are just using Twitter as an example of modern media, but I
just read an interesting statistic - 60% of Twitter users quit using it
after one month:

http://www.digidaydaily.com/stories/the-twitter-quitters-nielsen-rexamines-twitter-attrition/

Kinda puts those who bemoan the fate of ham radio into perspective.

Re: [AMRadio] AMRadio Digest, Vol 75, Issue 4

2010-04-06 Thread Jack Griffin
Allen KA1KIX,
I hope you have some of these tubes before you decide on the amp design. These
are very expensive.
The 1990 ARRL Handbook has an 8877 HF amp and power supply. It will probably be
in others around that time.

Hi Allen,

Don't know if you received an answer or not but check The Radio Handbook
(by Bill Orr).  I have the 21st edition and on page 22.40 is a diagram
and layout for a single 8877 in GG for 80 through 10 meters.

[AMRadio] OT: Old Call books

2010-04-06 Thread W5AMI
Does anyone have some older call books from the late 60's, 70's, maybe early
80's that could look up a call for me and see who held it?
Please email me off list as the matter is somewhat sensitive to discuss on
the list.

Thanks
Brian / w5ami
