Re: Re: [AMRadio] FS: restored Gonset G-76
Craig and the list (on purpose this time) I should have re-checked the transceiver before shipping. I apologize. No aplogy necessary, Craig. I am happy with the rig, just had a question that got sent to the list (THIS POST IS SENT TO THE LIST ON PURPOSE). for y'all: Craig is a great guy and I do not want his reputation smudged in any way, especially due to my e-mail braindamage In any case, I'll be happy to repair the rig or refund your money, Dan. Again...not necessary. Your response has more than answered my questions! But -- it DOES look nice, doesn't it? :-) Oh yeah...it looks great! I'll get the bumps smoothed out and then I'll see y'all on the air with the rig...(8- thanks again, 73 de Dan -- WAØJRD ..
Re: RE: [AMRadio] FS: restored Gonset G-76
THIS TIME TO THE LIST ON PURPOSE...heheheheh... Brett sez: The receive audio sucks. And the TX audio sucks (surprise!). HmmI have heard G76s on 10 meter AM that sound great! I wonder what they did to improve the TX audio? I have not seen any mods on the internet for G76'ez... Anyone know of any? Dan
Re: RE: [AMRadio] FS: restored Gonset G-76
Jim says: If you are interested, I might be able to open up one of my G-76's so that I can document whatever I did. First off, let me thank you for your great response Jim! And sure, I would be very much interested in what you did to make the audio better in the G76, if you have the time and inclination to dig into it! I have issues to resolve with mine before I can get to the point of doing any audio mods. None the least of which is to finish the power supply soze I can fire up the rig(8- The other problem I have is getting enough time to spend working on radio stuff, so my resurrection process for the rig will be slow. Thanks again Jim es 73 de Dan -- WAØJRD ..

Re: [AMRadio] ARRL has filed its bandwidth proposal with FCC
Of course, a strict 3.5 kHz limit would shut down a lot of slopbuckets as well. Don, k4kyv Yep...I wuz wonderin' about the ESSB crowd. Therez quite a bunch running wideband SSB. Pretty interesting to note all the outboard processing gear that is used, along with expensive studio mics. Having said that (too much already?) SOME of those ESSB signals take up WAY less bandwidth than the turn-on-the-processor-crank-it-up-and-use-my-leeenyear slopbuckets that occupy 10 or 20 Khz 73 de Dan WAØJRD ..
Re: RE: [AMRadio] Re: Need list of good AM radios to start looking for .
You do usually need to drop the power a bit to keep from over driving most linears. One modification is to run the RF Final 6146 and modulator off the low B+. Jim WD5JKO I have also heard that you can just replace the 6146 with a 2E26 and do nothing else. Is this true? Andwhat are the tradeoffs, if any? 73 de Dan -- WAØJRD ..
