RE: [AMRadio] B&W Coils Needed

2003-03-21 Thread Donald Chester

I have a large group of Bud coils, is there a cross for the B&W?

They are identical, electrically and mechanically. I have found them to be
completely interchangeable.

If you can find a 1943 ARRL handbook, plus or minus a couple of years, they
feature some homebrew transmitters, and describe the coils, which are exact
replicas of the B & W coils. E.F. Johnson and National also made these
coils. The Johnson ones are interchangeable with the B & W's. I am not
sure about the Nationals. Millen may have made them too.

I have found the B&W's to be the worst ones to self-destruct when the
plastic disintegrates with age. I have some Bud's that are still pristine
despite decades of use. B&W evidently used a different plastic (cullulose
acetate) from the others. It may be a very good dielectric, but it
eventually disintegrates with age.

Correction to my recent post.

I need the BVL80 (Quantity 2, but even 1 will help a lot). This is the
variable center link coil for 80 meters, 100 watt power class.

Thanks to all who responded. I have located an 80HDVL.

I am stilll looking for at two 80BEL coils. One such unit would be a
big help.
