[AMRadio] Fraud on E-bay
Greetings fellow listers, Jim WB2FCN here. To advise you folks that the E-pay site, has an HT-32 transmitter listed by seller hamstuff4u. This is a bogus listing, as 1st, the pictures are of MY HT-32A, which is currently sitting in my storage unit. This seller has lifted my description from my web pages along with the pictures and is offering the unit for sale for a Buy-It-Now price of $210.00. I will make an attempt to have E-bay remove this listing. Item number is 270023123317 . Beware of frauds. Now that guy has got a set of brass ones. I say we hunt him down and wire him up to a heavy duty plate transformer and let Jim throw the switch! That bogus listing just underscores the fact that anyone who hides his feedback comments is not worthy of your business. Honest hams have nothing to hide! Barry, KF5GC __ Do You Yahoo!? Jim, There is an interesting disclaimer at the bottom of the auction: NOTE: Pictures shown are reproduced from the Motorla web site, and not of the actual item I never knew Motorola made an HT-32! :-) Regards, Jim JKO __ AMRadio mailing list List Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/amradio Partner Website: http://www.amfone.net Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.html Post: mailto:AMRadio@mailman.qth.net
Re: [AMRadio] Fraud on E-bay
Just my opinion but, this is probably more laziness and stupidity than fraud. $200+ is just not enough moola to attract the fraudsters. They will go for high 3 figures or low 4-figures all the time. I've been at the wrong end of 4 frauds so I am something of an expert. All were in the music or camera equipment area. I made the mistake of paying by money order the first time and lost my money. The post office did nothing even though I went through all their bureaucracy, worked with the local police as they recommended, etc. Lesson learned: Money orers protect the seller, not the buyer. The other 3 times were all by PayPal. In all 3 cases PayPal recovered my money. Two of them were for purchases just over $100 for which the seller just never sent the item. One seller even had the nerve to complain to me afterward about the bad feedback I left! The third one surprised me. I tried to buy a $2K plus audio mixer on eBay and PayPal would not let me send the money to the seller. They said the seller already had fraud claims against them. I researched the seller (because it was quite a bargain--in retrospect probably too good to be true) and sure enough, e-mails bounced and phone calls went nowhere. I was on my knees thanking PayPal over tha one. This guy just looks like someone who doesn't know what he is doing and is trying to remain anonymous. Just an idiot, probably not a fraudster, IMHO. He probably found the pic in a google search and that saved him from having to take one. 73, Don Merz, N3RHT --- Jim Candela [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Jim, There is an interesting disclaimer at the bottom of the auction: NOTE: Pictures shown are reproduced from the Motorla web site, and not of the actual item I never knew Motorola made an HT-32! :-) Regards, Jim JKO __ AMRadio mailing list List Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/amradio Partner Website: http://www.amfone.net Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.html Post: mailto:AMRadio@mailman.qth.net __ AMRadio mailing list List Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/amradio Partner Website: http://www.amfone.net Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.html Post: mailto:AMRadio@mailman.qth.net

Is the seller the old Radio Mart guy? Seems as if I read somewhere it may be, or this guy has some similar traits. 73 Jim W5JO Jim WB2FCN here.
