Re: [AMRadio] Gates BC-1H1 Rescue/Restore Update
John, Thank you!! There's a link to the WROV "tribute site" on my web page. Apparently the original WROV went dark, and the allocation was bought out by a chain. Here's the link: http://www.wrovhistory.com/ I have the BC-1H1, and a buddy of mine has the original BC-1T they used. At the rate I'm going I should have this thing on the air in a month, or so! Can't wait, although the good 160 conditions will probably be past us by then... Oh Well... It's been a real joy restoring this puppy. I think I'm going to look for another Bcast Xmitter to rescue soon. I really enjoyed it, and since I gave up old car restoration, this seems like a fitting replacement pastime. Since now days a 1 or 5Kw Xmitter is a rack mount unit you can carry in the trunk of a car, someone needs to keep these old, big iron beauties on the air! :-) Regards, Mike - N3EAQ __ Our Main Website: http://www.amfone.net AMRadio mailing list Searchable Archives: http://www.mail-archive.com/amradio@mailman.qth.net/ List Rules (must read!): http://w5ami.net/amradiofaq.html List Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/amradio Post: AMRadio@mailman.qth.net To unsubscribe, send an email to amradio-requ...@mailman.qth.net with the word unsubscribe in the message body. [AMRadio] Gates BC-1H1 Rescue/Restore Update
Excellent work, Mike. That 1H1 looks cherry now. Wow. Mine is shameful in comparison. Nice job on the 833 tube bar. I found a less warped one from a 1G parts box online for mine. All of them warped in the Gates rigs. Wierd. I wondered what became of WROV. Sometimes I listened to them at Virginia Tech during the late 1970s, to Bart and the other DJs, when I wasn't working on WJJJ, WVVV, WUVT, WKEX in nearby Blacksburg and Christiansburg. 73 John K5PRO > Message: 1 > Date: Sun, 22 Mar 2009 14:31:54 -0400 > From: "M.
