Re: [AMRadio] Jim's tvi problems
Agreed Mike. I had a power company lineman tell me not to do the sledgehammer trick. If something is about to break, it could fall with some consequences. If the pole has a guy cable, just give it a good yank.
RE: [AMRadio] Jim's tvi problems
Jim: get you a sledge hammer and while listening to ur radio smack the pole a few times. also look for poles with a bank of caps on it. these are known sources of pulse noise as they have two hardware nuts and a lot of the guys just tighten the first one and snug the second. 73 Tony QBE ZUT DE WA4JQS ANTHONY W. RE: [AMRadio] Jim's tvi problems
I finally went around the neighborhood, and I found three sources of RFI that peg my SWL receiver S-meter when tuned to 3885. Two were in my own house! One was a VCR that produces a nasty broad roar every 250 kc, and the other was one of my (have 2) garage door openers. After unplugging both of these I got an S-8 on the receiver. The third noise seems to be power line type line noise of an impulse type. Looking around the neighborhood, a pole mounted transformer has a very visible rust stain on the side, and a red glowing dot in the middle. Maybe that transformer is on it's way out. This is progress Gents.
