It's far more important to keep the list tidy and useful to all, and the web lids at bay. And if you're spending time sifting thru bounced posts, I'd suggest just letting them fail. Re: [AMRadio] A Reminder - ALL PLEASE READ
Brian - I'll echo what others have said, *please* don't change the list. If you think you have headaches now... As far as the failed accounts problem, why not just make up a generic email stating what the problem is, how to fix it, and how to contact you if they have questions, then just unsubscribe any 'problem' accounts that may arise as a result? I'm guessing that the list software would allow you to turn off the rejected posts so you don't have to be annoyed by them. While your desire is to to the right and best thing, if you act as a conduit without the posters realizing their mistake or account problem, it'll only continue. Come to think of it, I've gotten responses before when hitting 'reply all' and one of the addresses happened to be a list I wasn't subscribed to. The return message informed me that I could not post to a list that I wasn't subscribed to, etc. If this software has that feature, why not just turn it on and let those who post incorrectly figure it out? If it doesn't have the feature, well...it should! (o: Others are right - you don't want the free-for-all of just random posts and problems created by the idiots and script kiddies. The list really *is* open, afterall. It's not moderated, and all one needs to do to use it is subscribe. If people are too lazy or incapable of meeting this one, simple requirement (but are capable of using a computer and the internet), would you really want them here? de Todd/'Boomer' KA1KAQ

Hey, Brian: As someone who is likely one of your occasional 'perps' in this matter, first let me apologize in advance. Sometimes when hastily posting from work or home it's easy to forget what's what. But that's no excuse. I don't expect you, or any other list I belong to, to change your policy and be my nanny. It's far more important to keep the list tidy and useful to all, and the web lids at bay. And if you're spending time sifting thru bounced posts, I'd suggest just letting them fail. Eventually we'll figure it out when we don't see our posts pop up. No sense making yourself crazy over it. g "B. Brian, Please leave things as they are. The list should not have to change to accommodate a few users. Thanks, 73's Roger KC8OPP --- "B. Don't open the list to all. The crazies and spammers will take it over if you do. 73 Damon Raphael, W7MD Tucson, AZ - Original Message - From: "B. If anyone would like to suggest we make the list totally open to anyone "without membership", please, let's discuss it openly on the list for all to see. Let's leave it like it is. Re: [AMRadio] A Reminder - ALL PLEASE READ
Brian, Part of the problem may be that some of the ISP's have gotten bought out and a new email address is required for everyone. The old company still forwards the email via the old address for many months. I was subscribed on AT&T in the past. Comcast bought them out. I had to unsubscribe the old address and resubscribe with the new address at Comcast. If I had not unsubscribed and resubscribed with the new address, I would be still receiving the list but unable to post because of the new address. I just recently discovered that problem that I have on another list. (I forgot to unsubscribe and subscribe with the new address) I hadn't posted to it in some time but still receive the list and was unaware until I tried to post to it. AT&T still, several months latter, forwards mail addressed to the AT&T address. 73 Gary K4FMX B. If you belong to more than one QSL.NET mailing list, and have different email accounts setup on each, then it is likely you will not be able to "CC" the other ones as well. I am getting a hoard of rejections from the list manager (software) that I have to sift through every day, simply because many posts are sent using the wrong (the one not subscribed to the AM List) account. PLEASE be more careful when you post to this (and other) list in regard to what account you are sending from.
