It's aparently a carryover from the older pre 50's
PA line of Varimatch audio which lists a Varimatch Driver
PA-512


The CG (Commercial Grade) line replaced the PA (Public Address) line 
sometime about 1948-49.  The suffix number stayed the same.  Most of the 
transformer specs are identical.  The only thing that changed was the 
nameplate and case style.

I don't see a CG-512 in either the 1957 or 1967 Radio-Electronic Master.
