[amsat-bb] Re: ISILaunch01 Status update - September 23 06:45 UTC Launch Successful!

2009-09-23 Thread Mani VU2WMY
Hi Wouter,
   Congratulations!!

PSLV has made it again. 15th consecutive successful launch. With this
launch PSLV has launched as many as 15 satellites carrying amateur
radio payloads so for, while HAMSAT-VO52 being the first one. We hope
PSLV/ISRO would soon make a record of launching the highest number of
satellites for amateur radio services by a single launch agency.

Good Luck!

2009-09-23 Thread RONALD CADE
Aloha,
Thanks to all of you that showed up on the satellite and made my trip down to
the most southern tip of the Hawaiian Island group worthwhile.
My last QSO was with KL7XJ which is the most difficult due to Mauna Loa volcano
blocking that direction.
I'll be back on Kauai Thursday, anyone need BL01 or 02, email me and I'll try
to get on during my last week on the island.

[amsat-bb] ISILaunch01 Status update - September 23 08:30 UTC first satellites heard!

2009-09-23 Thread Wouter Jan Ubbels
Hi all,

please find an update on the ISILaunch01 below:

1. Directly after the launch the orbit took the satellites directly over the
western part of the United States. Thanks to efforts by CalPoly and SRI, the
teams have been able to confirm that at least two of the four satellites are
transmitting beacon data. The two satellites that have been heard are
SwissCube and ITUpSAT1, which could be identified by their CW beacon.

We continue to wait for the first passes over the groundstations of the
teams in Europe, which should occur around 09:30 UTC.

best 73 on behalf of an excited ISILaunch01 team!

I have just listened to my recording of the 1200ut pass and have a few bits

As I was tuning around most of the pass I can not now be sure which cubesat

And these from this morning.
This launch has left 21 objects.
That's an awful lot of debris for 6 satellites.

[amsat-bb] Coming Soon: 2009 AMSAT Symposium--40th AMSAT Anniversary Celebration

2009-09-23 Thread Frank H. Bauer
All,

A reminder that the Symposium is quickly approaching!!

Don't miss the outstanding papers, camaraderie, and 40th anniversary
celebration. And Edgar Allan Poe's 200th birthday celebration in "Charm
City", Baltimore, Maryland.

Both Airtran and Southwest have very cheap airfares available that end on
Sept 24. This will probably be your last chance for cheap airfares.
Example airfares include (One way): Albany, Columbus, Detroit, Hartford
$49, Houston $94, Dallas $99 and many many more.

The 4 Points Sheraton is an outstanding venue for this year's Symposium.

If you haven't looked, the agenda for the symposium and a list of papers are
on the AMSAT Web site.

So..make your reservations, call Martha, get on the web and get cracking!!

See you all in Baltimore.

73, Frank Bauer, KA3HDO and Janet Bauer, Symposium Co-Chairs

[amsat-bb] Re: ] ITUpSat1 and SwissCube Heard

2009-09-23 Thread David Barber
Good signals this UK pass 12.46 - 13.00utc from Swisscube and ITUpSat1.

Swisscube on 437.505 is the stronger of the two signals with me.

The keps seem a little behind the satellites.

Didn't listen for the other two.

The 93036xxx number in the keplerian data identifies those as Cosmos
2251 debris, probably freshly identified. The 93 part is the launch
year...notice the Sumbandilasat launch keps have 09xxx in that place?

[amsat-bb] ITUpSat1 and SwissCube Frequencies

2009-09-23 Thread Jason Anderson
We've had some requests to share our listening setup for the
satellites we heard.

   SwissCube-1: 437.505
   BeeSat: 436.000
   UWE-2: 437.385
   ITUpSat1: 437.325

We were doing manual Doppler correction and searching around the above
frequencies. We used the TLE's found in the Sept 22nd posting on
ISIS's blog

   http://blog.isilaunch.com/

although I believe they now have objects numbers from Norad which
might be more accurate. Happy Tracking.

[amsat-bb] VUCC Award XE1AO and WA5KBH

2009-09-23 Thread John Papay
Congratulations to Omar, XE1AO, for achieving Satellite VUCC
#182 and to George, WA5KHB, for confirming 225 Grids for his
VUCC! Both are recognized in the October, 2009, issue of QST
on page 94.

Also Jerry, VE6AB, is shown with his "CJU" antenna on page 76.
Plans for this simple antenna were in February QST. This
antenna is also used by Rob, KD4ZGW/M, our over-the-road truck
driver, who has handed out many rare grids during his travels across
the United States.

If you are just getting into satellites and are not hearing the
birds very well, the CJU antenna may be just the ticket to making
your first contact.

[amsat-bb] contest??

2009-09-23 Thread w7lrd

Just a thought coming from the North West.  There are lots of short VHF/UHF
sprint type contests.  They may only last a few hours.  Have "we" considered a
similar sprint type contest where the exchange would be your grid square and
your AMSAT member number.  No AMSAT number?  Maybe you should get one.  Most of
the exchanges on AO-51 are contest like already.  The winning prize would be a
attaboy.  Going back in my corner now.

[amsat-bb] Some successful experiment and beep-sats

2009-09-23 Thread William Leijenaar
Hi AMSATs,

I like to share with you some news about my succesfull experiments with my
tinny transponder. I managed it to work with 23cm as input frequency :)
The changes are minor,  just a few components to be changed and the input
filter needs to be changed. I have to do some more testing but all looks very
well for having an mode-LU linear transponder.

I just heared about another launch with several "beep"-sats on it.
When checking the Satellite Status List on the AMSAT-NA website, you need to
search very well to find any satellite which has an uplink frequency. As active
AMSAT operator I already deleted most of the kepler lines in the kepler list,
as these are all "beep" sats which I can not use.

Lucky thing is that I not have much time to be active on satellites, but every
once in a while when I check the satellite list my face gets more and more :(
In the past we had a few satellites, but they were very usefull (to AMSAT
hams)...
Now we have many satellites, but only few are usefull (to AMSAT hams)...

Now up to my next project... a credit-card size Mode-B FM transponder :o)

Isn't this like going:

"My car was broken into."
"You need five point harness for seatbelts."

Without knowing what happened to David's machine, this is completely
useless. If the attack happened via another path PHP sessions would be
as about as useful as putting a toll booth in front of an open field.

2009-09-23 Thread PY2ZX
Hello,

Very good copy of SwissCube over Brazil on orbit # 12.

Another signal was also loud but I did not identify.

Here the audios of these receptions and video of the PSLV-C14 launch:

[amsat-bb] Digital sats

2009-09-23 Thread Andrew Rich
I have a question regarding digital birds.

What space objects can I pick up with a TNC, and what birds do I need a
special modem for ?

Some that come to mind, that I can use a TNC for are

+ ISS 1200 Baud AFSK
+ PCSAT 1200 Baud AFSK

Is the aim to have birds launch that obey

+ AX25 encoded packets
+ 1200 or 9600
