[amsat-bb] Lots of activity today..
Hi! Lots of activity on the birds today. Kerry WC7V has been busy at DN46/DN56, and Larry XE2/KI6YAA was just on AO27 from the DL29/DM20 boundary on the east side of the Baja California peninsula. Kerry posted his plans to the -BB previously, and Larry mentioned to me earlier that he would be heading toward Bahia de los Angeles on the Gulf of California side of Baja California this weekend. Along with those two, I will be on various passes from DM34/DM44 in north-central Arizona today through the 0114 FO29 pass. Many of the regulars already have me in their logs from these grids, but some have picked these up as new grids for their logs. This is a great way to start springtime. Getting some new grids in the log from WC7V and KI6YAA from rarely-heard spots, and even giving out some grids from here. :-) Who knows what else might turn up later. Good luck to all, and 73! [amsat-bb] RS-15 beacon signal
All, this morning I made some very interesting measurements of the beacon signal from RS-15. Does anyone know the relationship between the length of the carrier and (presumably) the temperature? The length varies between 1.5 seconds and sometimes over 20 seconds. You can see some interesting graphs here: http://www.dk3wn.info/p/?p=13008 Thanks and 73, Mike DK3WN ___ Sent via amsat...@amsat.org. Opinions expressed are those of the author. [amsat-bb] AO-51 Back up!
Congratulations to the Control Team N8MH KO4MA and WA6FWF for their efforts to revive AO-51. This weekend was to be very active since some were planning grid expeditions. Not having AO-51 available would have impacted those efforts. This morning on the 1311z pass, Kerry WC7V was operating portable from DN46 and DN56 and Chris KC0YBM was in EN24. All of these are rare grids. It was great to hear them operating for our benefit. Thank you Kerry and Chris! The radio that Chris uses for satellites requires 120VAC power so he purchased a 400w inverter that would allow him to take his radio on the road! He may operate in EN25 next! If you haven't tried operating portable away from home, please consider doing so. It is a lot of fun and others will appreciate the effort you make to do it. 73, John K8YSE ___ Sent via amsat...@amsat.org. Opinions expressed are those of the author. Not an AMSAT-NA member? All reloaded and open for business.
