September 12, 2010 To All RADIO AMATEURS BID: $ANS-255.01 On September 15th, AMSAT will stop accepting the Board of Director's Ballots. This is a friendly reminder to send your votes in ASAP. Most feel this action will not be changing anything by 1 vote, however, if 2000 plus people felt this way, the true vote count for those that win will not be an actual survey of the members wishes. This year we are pleased to have great people running and all are more than qualified to earn your vote. Again, please drop your ballot in the mail ASAP so the BOD has a great place to start. [amsat-bb] AO-51 from BL11 this afternoon
Greetings, I will be running portable from Hawaii, BL11, this afternoon. The equipment (arrow,IC-W32A LNK-450 pre-amp) seemed to make the trip here OK. Saturday I was able to hear myself on AO-51 but didn't hear anyone else. The pass I'll be trying is: UTC: 9/13 0150 - 0159 PDT: 9/12 6:50 - 6:59 PM HST: 9/12 3:50 - 3:3:59 PM There are similar passes on Tues, Wed Thursday this week. The HO-68 operating schedule doesn't look very promising this week for Hawaii. Next week (9/17 - 9/24) I'll try AO-51 from Kauai, BL02. Hope to make some contacts. 73's Tom - KA6SIP ___ Sent via amsat...@amsat.org. Opinions expressed are those of the author. Not an AMSAT-NA member? Join now to support the amateur satellite program! [amsat-bb] Presentation/demo on Thursday (16 September)
Hi! I will give a presentation for the ThunderBird Amateur Radio Club at their monthly meeting at 7pm on Thursday, 16 September 2010. The club meets in the Snell Building on the south side of the Thunderbird School of Global Management campus. The campus is located on the southeast corner of 59th Avenue and Greenway Road in Glendale. There is more information about the club available at: http://www.w7tbc.org/ Before the meeting, there will be an on-air demonstration. Unlike the presentations I have done for radio clubs in the past, I will use the FO-29 satellite during the pass at 6.12-6.31pm (0112-0131 UTC Friday) that covers most of North America. If you are able to work that pass, please give WD9EWK a call. The meeting site is in grid DM33vo. Thanks in advance, and 73!
