[amsat-bb] Glasgow school students wins ESA CanSat competition

2012-05-06 Thread Trevor .
Students at Bearsden Academy won the competition against schools from across
Europe with their 434.250 MHz CanSat.

It was only launched to an altitude of 1km but should have them a taste of the
thrill of satellites.

See the story at http://www.uk.amsat.org/7201

[amsat-bb] Orbitron Warning

2012-05-06 Thread K4FEG

WARNING ORBITRON USERS!
It may be something that I did, I am not sure, But I run Windows 7
operating system and I downloaded my TLE files from the stoff.pl web
site and there is no data in the file, it wiped out my existing data and
the other TLE file sources (celestrak) do not sync properly with Windows 7.

Orbitron is now not functioning on my Windows 7 based computer.
If one of you nice folks have a solution for me email me direct no need
to clutter the bulletin board.

Myself and another local ham have verified that it is the combination of
Windows 7 and the stoff.pl TLE file.

I am going to also email stoff to tell him about this problem.

Be careful out there!

Looks to me like I need an Elmer.

I am trying to use the least expensive way to do things for now.

Push button of a TS-50 fed by a block downconverter is where I am at now.

I look forward to somebody helping me.

[amsat-bb] Re: HAMSAT Birth Day and Singing once again.

2012-05-06 Thread i8cvs
Dear Mani VU2WMY and Mr.Parimala Rangan with others,

To day 5 May 2012 VO-52 was working very well for me on orbit 37868
at 18:01 UTC.

The drift in frequency of the Beacon seems to be only less than 3 KHz upper
than nominal and is reducing gradually because probably the transponder is
heating up.

The SSB quality is very good with no distorsion or overloading.Worked four
stations without problems.

We appreciate the timely and immediate corrective actions from
ISRO and AMSAT-India.

[amsat-bb] Re: Orbitron Warning DO NOT UPDATE KEPS!!!!!

2012-05-06 Thread Floyd Rodgers

Oh swell. It also works for Xp users as well. *It is not limited to Win7.
I would suggest not doing kep updates until this gets resolved!!
*All the txt files for keps updates are still here but have not much
useable data within and all have timestamps of when the last update was
done. Possibly a formatting issue with celestrak since that is the
source I update from. Is anyone using stoff.pl or space-trak and seeing
similar problems?
