[amsat-bb] Satellite contact between Alaska and Cuba

2012-07-08 Thread Hector, CO6CBF
I am happy to report that after a lot of attempts, Dale KL7R and I reached
a Sat contact between BP54xt and EL92sd. The Cubans cannot operate on AO-07
mode B, So FO-29 is our only opportunity for long contacts.

I cannot say how much time we tried but I am sure that it was more than 10
attempts. Dale did all the hard work, he drove around 4 miles from his home
to a nearby hill. Majority of times he drove very late in the night.

All the SSB attempts failed. Today at 1920z was our first attempt on CW and
It was successfully!

Dale `s working conditions are a Yaesu FT-817 (only 5W semi-duplex) and
ARROW antenna with preamplifier. My working conditions are a majority
homebrew setup, 10 elements yagi on 2m and 18 elements yagi for 70cm with a
homebrew preamplifier.

Thanks very much to Dale for his constancy and effort!

PD: I continue looking for new grids and long contacts on satellite, if you
are into any footprint with EL92sd and wan to try, please drop me an email.

73!

Hector, CO6CBF

EL92sd

[amsat-bb] Possible Satellite Operation from FP

2012-07-08 Thread JoAnne Maenpaa
Hello Everyone,

I just spotted this in the DXNL 1787 - DX Newsletter. It would be too late
if we waited for the next weekend ANS bulletin cycle ... so here it is:

FP, ST PIERRE ET MIQUELON, NA-032
Eric,FP/KV1J, plans to hand out some IOTA points in SSB/CW/RTTY/PSK31
on 160m-6m operating from Miquelon (NA-032, DIFO FP-002, WLOTA 1417,
Loc GN17) on July 10-17. If the conditions are fine he may also work
via satellites. His plans include also the IARU HF World Championship.
QSL via homecall. See also: http://www.kv1j.com/fp/July12.html

[amsat-bb] One more day - AMSAT 2012 Field Day Submissions

2012-07-08 Thread Bruce
There is only one more day to get your AMSAT 2012 Field Day submission
sheets in. Monday, July 9, 2012 at 23:59PM Central Time is the deadline.

I have only received 12 submissions thus far. I acknowledge when I
receive a submission, if you sent one and I did not email you back,
please send it again. All 12 are scored and in my spread sheet. So far,
*^%$#@ is number 1, ^%^&** is number 2 and &^$#@ is number 3. Looks like
those calls were scrambled in the email somehow.

[amsat-bb] Fw: Reform of the 1986 UK Outer Space Act

2012-07-08 Thread Graham Shirville

Hi All,

These proposals to reform the UK Outer Space Act, include changes to make it
more “cubesat friendly”. Whilst they only relate to our, UK legislation, both
the Consultation Document and the Impact Assessment Document cover a lot of
interesting ground, technical, legal and statistical. Well worth a review in my
opinion.

Rest assured that AMSAT-UK will be responding!

cheers
