There was a Nordic VUSHF-Activity Contest going on last tuesday.
NAC-contest is periodically every tuesday on 18:00 - 22:00 UTC.
Every first tuesday a month is 144MHz, second tuesday 432MHz, third Tuesday
1296, fourth tuesday 2,3GHz and UP.
There are also many european contest at the same time.

So the contest stations were uplinked unintentionally by AO-7.

I can recall (many years ago) during a perigee pass of AO-13 over SA, I
could clearly hear SA stations working terrestrial UHF FM, mobile, with
the satellite on the omni antennas. Perhaps I should have sent out QSL
cards with SWL reports, just to encourage those operators to consider
the possibility of raising their eyes above the horizon.

Drew,

This evening was the 70cms RSGB Contest (UKAC) so most likely have been one
of the stations taking part in that.

2012-10-09 Thread Bob- W7LRD
Hi Drew et al.
I have heard the same thing when there is a UHF contest going on. I try to send
the station a email that he was loud and clear on satellite AO-7. Hoping that
may nudge some satellite interest. Last couple of passes on AO-7 were very
favorable from CN87 (Seattle) to Northern Europe. No one at home not even Mika.

Just now on AO-7 I heard a terrestrial station (DL on LSB) working a contest of
some sort. He was pretty weak here, but thought I copied G4VF? His frequency
would have been 432.160 or so. Always interesting hearing the unintentional sat

Cosmgia Inc website is down. Does not look good for the credibility of the IARU.

Dear OM's

I understand and agree with Dave. Our IARU advisory satellite panel
should rebut such coordination inquiries from commercial companies
with a statement on their IARU coordination page like:

"This Satellite would violate against act 'xyz' and is not coordinated"

Then it would look good for the credibility of the IARU satellite panel.

I would like to thank the panel for a great job they always do for our
frequency bands. This is not self-evident.

[amsat-bb] CubeSats TLE

2012-10-09 Thread Jean-Pierre Godet

  Hello dear CubeSats listener !

The TLE of the five CubeSats recently launched from ISS are now
available with the NORAD registration numbers 1998-067-CN, CP, CQ, CR, CS.
1998 ? Yes as NORAD considers they are parts of the ISS, the first
module of which, Zarya, was launched on November 20th 1998 and got the
NORAD registration number 1998-067-A.

Yesterday evening (evening in Western Europe, around 2130 UTC), I
noticed that FITSAT-1 was already about 4 mn before the ISS predictions as
this one modified altitude (higher). With a max. elevation angle of 83 deg., we
received the 437.250 MHz beacon loud and clear.

Have a good day my friends !
