[amsat-bb] Re: Need help dismantling KR-500

2013-10-15 Thread Franklin Antonio
Most important thing: Prepare for some ball bearings to fall out. If
you are not prepared, some greasy ball bearings will roll around the
kitchen floor. Very dangerous and makes an awful mess. Been there.

[amsat-bb] Symposium - VUCC/WAS card checking

2013-10-15 Thread Bruce
I will be at the symposium friday, saturday and sunday (sunday is the
trip to the uss texas so not much time). I can check anyone's cards for
VUCC satellite or WAS satellite.

Download, the application from the ARRL

for vucc have a computer generated list in grid square order of your
cards with grid in column 1 and callsign in column 2 (cards sorted in
grid square order to match list, put multiple grid cards at the very end
of the stack)
for was have a computer generated list in alphabetical order by state in
column 1 and callsign in column 2 (cards sorted in state order to match
list, put multiple state cards at end of stack)

have a payment for the arrl either by entering your credit card info on
the application or have a check made out to the arrl for the appropriate
fee.

i will then check your cards and return them to you and send your
application and payment to the arrl. find me near the table where martha
will be.

[amsat-bb] Re: [Part-L] CUSat and Falcon 9 R/B (2nd Stage) Los Angeles Sunday Evening Pass

2013-10-15 Thread Bryce Salmi
Thanks to the Jan, PE0SAT , for pointing out
that AAUSAT3 has a CW beacon on 437.425MHZ and was directly north during
the pass of CUSat Sunday night. I went back in time on my satellite
tracking program (Linux) and sure enough the cubesat launched in February
pumping out 1W CW was there! As you can see in the lower left “radar”
display, AAUSAT3 and CUSat were close enough for my handheld antenna to
easily pick both up.

AAUSAT3 Radio Information

http://www.space.aau.dk/aausat3/index.php?n=Ham.HAMAndRadioInfo

Correct CW Decoding of Sunday’s Pass:

OZ3CUB B7.4 T34 (EOM)

Which meant that the battery voltage was 7.4V and temperature was 34C.
Simple but fun!

[amsat-bb] Re: Need help dismantling KR-500

2013-10-15 Thread i8cvs
Hi Richard, G3RWL

If you have the original manual of the elevation rotator KR-500 there
is a clear mechanical drawing inside showing bearings ,ball retainers,
gears and all shaft in line so that it is very easy to understand how
proceed.

If you don't hown the above drawing I can send to you a scanned copy
of it.

You did already the most critical job to remove the eigth screws fastening
both alves of the rotator HIHI !

About the grease I have used the molibdene black grease for differential
gears on truks.

[amsat-bb] Skybox Imaging ready for SkySat launch

2013-10-15 Thread M5AKA
This article reports that SkySat-1 has started its journey to Dombarovsky near
Yasny in the Russian Federation for a November 21 launch. SkySat-2 is currently
slated for a launch from Baikonur in Kazakhstan on February 20.

http://www.spacenews.com/article/civil-space/37671commercial-earth-observation-skybox-imagings-hopes-high-as-launch-of-first

Both of these launches will also carry a number of Amateur Radio satellites,
some with linear transponders.

The Yasny launch should see the largest number of Amateur Radio satellites ever
launched on a single rocket. I believe the total may be close to 20 (some of
the satellites are themselves deploying other sats) so there should be plenty
of signals to listen out for.
