[amsat-bb] Kennedy Space Center Tour

2011-12-14 Thread Bobby Lacey
Happy Holidays to everyone..

I thought maybe some of you would enjoy looking at these:

Recently I was blessed with the opportunity to spend some time at KSC and
was given access to both Atlantis and Endeavour.

I spent approximately 3 hours inside Atlantis photographing the payload
bay, flight deck, and mid-deck. While inside Atlantis, I couldn't pass up
the opportunity to take photos of mine and my dad's QSL cards on the flight
deck: http://flic.kr/p/aVsWfM

Afterwards, I was taken to the VAB to photograph Endeavour and then on to
the engine shop where for the first time, all 15 space shuttle main engines
sat in the same room at once.

If you'd like, you can view the entire set at http://flic.kr/s/aHsjxni8cR

[amsat-bb] W0LMD Sat Tracker Jr. hunting/deadband problem

2011-02-10 Thread Bobby Lacey
Hi all

I have a W0LMD sat tracker jr. that I've connected to my PC for automation.
Right now, I'm using Nova to control the rotor and SatPC32 to control the
radio (I would like to use just SatPC32 for both, but I dont see an option
to set a max elevation since my elevation can't go above 60 degrees).

The problem is that every pass starts out fine, but as it gets going, the
azimuth rotor starts rocking and hunting. It literally jerks the antennas
back and forth until I turn off the G-5400. I have the rotor set up in Nova
using Easycomm (and tried Novacom), but the "Deadband" boxes are greyed
out.

Would anyone have a alternative solution or be able to help me off list?
Thanks in advance!

[amsat-bb] SATPC32 Doppler.SQF and TS-2000

2011-02-11 Thread Bobby Lacey
I'm new to the SSB birds having just purchased a TS-2000. Unfortunately my
radio and computer are about 25ft apart which makes tuning the uplink
correction for SatPC32 pretty difficult. Would anyone mind sharing their
doppler.sqf for the TS-2000 w/ uplink adjustments?

Thanks so much for the help & vry 73

[amsat-bb] Using Predict with a dynamic qth file

2011-02-18 Thread Bobby Lacey
Hi,

Is it possible to dynamically change predict's qth file from a socket
connection? Looking to develop a small web app that gives updates on pass
times depending on your current geolocation.

[amsat-bb] STS-134

2011-04-21 Thread Bobby Lacey
I will be down at KSC to cover Endeavour's last launch from the press site
next week, and I was just wondering if any hams on the list would be making
the trip down to the cape? The white house announced yesterday that POTUS
will be attending this launch, so security may be interesting.

I'll be tweeting and posting photos of RSS retraction + launch.

[amsat-bb] Re: Shuttle rebroadcasts at Edwards

2009-05-21 Thread Bobby Lacey
I am hoping for a landing at KSC at the SLF since that's where I'll be.

If you don't have to worry about your cellphone minutes, NASA
rebroadcasts the transmissions at:

321.867.7135

I usually dial it up, put it on speakerphone, then I mute my audio.
Works pretty well.

[amsat-bb] G-5400B Rotor / Elevation not working

2009-07-28 Thread Bobby Lacey
I have a Yaesu G-5400B and the elevation side of the control box seems
to have stopped working. The actual elevation rotor has also stopped
responding as well. I hooked up a working elevation rotor to test and
didn't get any response out of it. Has anyone experienced this or know
of something I should look before before I start tracing the
schematic?

Please respond to me directly unless the list thinks this question
warrants it's own thread.

[amsat-bb] STS-132 Launch

2010-05-10 Thread Bobby Lacey
Wondering if any AMSAT members will be down at the cape this week to see
Atlantis' final scheduled launch to the ISS? I lucked out and was chosen to
be a part of NASA's STS-132 Tweetup. Some of the highlights scheduled for
Tweetup members are viewing RSS retract on Thursday evening & watching the
launch from the press site (~3 miles from LC-39A) on Friday. I've never seen
the shuttle closer than the causeway (~10mi), so this is really going to be
a treat.

I'll be tweeting the experience at www.twitter.com/kf4gta while posting
photos and HD content to www.flickr.com/photos/rllacey &
www.vimeo.com/rllacey
