[amsat-bb] Sounds from Space

2010-02-06 Thread Matthias Bopp
Dear AMSAT fellows,

recently I got some additional interesting information and pictures
especially on the early AMSAT satellites and added them to the
"Sounds from Space" collection at www.dd1us.de.

Please have a look and hopefully enjoy it.

I am still missing any recordings of the early AMSAT satellites AO-II to
AO-5 and would kindly ask you to double check (maybe also with some older
Hams which are not participating in this group) whether they might still
have such documents. I bought an old tape recorder in order to be able to
digitize also older tapes.

Many thanks in advance for any help.

Best regards 55&73

Matthias

[amsat-bb] Sounds from Space

2012-01-08 Thread Matthias Bopp
Dear Amsat-friends,

I would like to draw your attention to a collection of audio recordings
which might me of interest to you too:

The "Sounds from Space" collection on www.dd1us.de is a collection which has
also a section dedicated to recordings of amateur radio satellite signals.

Please have a look at it. The idea is to give older radio amateurs the
chance, to listen to signals of satellites which are already gone and the
might have worked in the past, and to younger people interested in ham
radio, to get them more excited in satellite communication.

In spite of the fact that the collection now gets close to 1000 recordings I
am still missing recordings from some amateur radio satellites. If anyone of
you would be willing to contribute recordings to these satellite I highly
appreciate it. I have and will always give full credit to the source of the
recordings. Please have a look in your older tapes and recordings !

Here is a list of the most wanted missing satellites:

Amsat Oscar 8
RS-1
RS-2
ISKRA-1
RS-3
RS-4
RS-5
RS-6
RS-8

In case you have no own recordings but know someone, who might have, please
pass this request to him.

Many thanks for your help.

[amsat-bb] Sounds from space: ISS featuring APRS (video)

2009-09-19 Thread Henk, PA3GUO
Dear all,

http://www.vimeo.com/6657880

This video shows the ISS passing over the Netherlands (Europe) as a bright,
moving star.
You hear bursts of digital communication (APRS) and see them decoded on screen.

Featured in the HD movie are the following radio-amateurs:
LA4FPA, G6HMS, IW9FRA, ON7DS, YO8RBY, PA3GUO, OE1CWJ, UA1CAS and SP9TTX.

Enjoy !
Henk, PA3GUO

ps: this video nicely demonstrates APRS as an efficient communication
technology !
