[amsat-bb] new sat beacon around 435.800 ?

2013-04-26 Thread Jean-Pierre Godet

  Hi my friends !

I was preparing to listen the next pass, orbit nr 16160, of Hope-1
HO-68, the beacon of which is on 435.790 MHz when by chance, I came
across another CW beacon about 10 kHz higher transmitting numbers at about
25 wpm. The max Doppler shift was at about 0919 UTC from my location in
the North of France and the "time if flight" perhaps 15 mn, something like
that.
I just had time to record the weak (with my poor devices) signal, sound
and spectrogram. With the Doppler shift, at 0926 UTC the frequency of this
bird beacon crossed the one of Hope-1 producing an beautiful auditive
interference and, on the spectrogram, a nice picture.

Any ideas ? As many birds was launched these last days, maybe one of
them ?

[amsat-bb] new sat ID's ?

2013-01-22 Thread Ted
Just downloaded new keps in my HRD Sat program today and noticed that SO-50
is now listed as Saudisat 1C. Looks like some other ones are also 'renamed'.

Anyone else notice this ?

[amsat-bb] New Sat Frequencies for Poland

2012-04-05 Thread Trevor .
According to the Polski Związek Krótkofalowców (PZK) website 2400-2450 MHz has
now been allocated to the Amateur-satellite Service in Poland. The website also
indicates that the amateur radio BRITE-PL satellite, due to launch from Yasny
on a DNEPR in October 2012, will be using this allocation.

See http://www.uk.amsat.org/6223

The Amateur Service in Poland was also allocated 70.1-70.3 MHz and 3400-3410
MHz.

Although in some parts of the world 3400-3410 MHz is allocated to the
Amateur-satellite Service it is not in Europe and Africa. Indeed many countries
do not even have an Amateur Service allocation at 3400-3410 MHz so the Polish
move to allocate the band for the Amateur Service is a welcome step forward.

The ARRL plays an important part in the IARU and ARRL members are present at
ITU WRC conferences. Hopefully list members will be reminding the ARRL of the
importance of achieving a global Amateur-satellite Service allocation at
3400-3410 MHz (as well as a 50 MHz allocation) at a future WRC.

[amsat-bb] new sat

2011-05-19 Thread Nick Pugh K5QXJ
A 1u cube satellite cost < $50k Just get a university to sponsor it. A bird
that can get out to 1200 KM is < $150k . Three of these sat would get us
several hours of coverage a day. AMSAT has approximately 4000 members so
raise the dues $20 a year and by year 2 you have the money.

Thanks

[amsat-bb] New Sat operators

2011-04-29 Thread saguaroastro
All,

A few weeks back, my radio club, The Thunderbird Amateur Radio Club
(www.w7tbc.org) held an antenna building session where several members built
satellite antennas from Kent Britain, WA5VJB, plans. Tomorrow is our Spring
picnic and I'm planning on getting a few of the folks who built this antenna on
the birds. Hopefully I'll have a few new voices on the following passes:

AO-27 1957UT
AO-27 2136UT
AO-51 2258UT

So if you hear a new call from DM33, help them get their first satellite QSO.

Not sure how many will be there, but here are a few calls you may hear:

AE7GM
WA6AYS
KF7MLX
KE7VOU

You can see some pictures from the build session on the club web site (see the
link above)

Thanks in advance
