[amsat-bb] AMSAT bb

2014-08-19 Thread Tom Lubbers K8TL
Glen,
I see you have been sucessful in posting to the AMSAT BB. I have made several
attempts to post a question I have about the old track box but it never
appears. I have used amsat-bb@amsat.org. All indications are it goes out,
doesn't appear in the undeliverable box but nothing on the daily list of
messages. Used the address that worked for years in my address book, typed it
by hand uppercase, lower case and it just disappears into a black hole.
Used to have no problem but since things changed on the bb awhile back no luck.
 Any help??

Re: [amsat-bb] AMSAT-BB Digest, Vol 9, Issue 203

2014-06-21 Thread Robert C. Campbell
The other day I was using my Yeasue el/az rotator just fine in flip mode
with sat-pc and PST-rotator. Today trouble. In Pst-rotator If I ask for 90
the position bar showed actual 120 and it continues to show about 30
degrees off all the way to 359 where it will stop 30 degrees in advance of
where it should since it thinks it is there. Is this one of those problems
that happens when the wire breaks on the resister or perhaps something
else? It has been loyal for many years. Is it time to send it back for
repair? Any help would be good.

 Hi All,

LilacSat-2 is expected to be launched in May or June 2015.

We haven?t decided how to use the repeater yet. An idea is to use a
 subaudio PSK31 telemetry with it.

About XW-2, LilacSat-2 will be launched with several satellites designed
by CAST and CAMSAT with amateur radio, but we don't know the exact name
 indeed.

We will update our website later.

On the last pass of SO-50 (15:27 UTC, 20-Jun) over North America, I worked
 XE1SEW operating portable in DL90.

Last night he was calling CQ on FO-29 from EL00. I do not believe he made
any successful contacts due in part to many stations calling CQ within 3
kHz of him. There may have been other factors. Having operated many times
portable, I can assure you that neighboring stations on adjacent
frequencies can pose challenges. I am not laying blame but rather making
 an observation.

Please, consider moving away from FO-29's passband center if you intend to
operate portable. As a general rule on FO-29 I try to transmit portable
below 145.93 and above 145.97. As a portable station this provides some
shielding from the death zone of higher power, fixed stations who always
seem to appear and call CQ +/- 10 kHz of the transponder's center
frequency. (some suffering from terminal CHS syndrome)

 Clayton

Yahoo changed something in how E-Mails are rejected and quite a few people have
been getting such notifications from several reflectors.  I got one from
several including the AMSAT reflector.  I just replied to the notice and, so
far, everything is fine now.

I use Yahoo for things like reflectors to keep SPAM away from my primary E-Mail
addresses.  In general, it does help although I still get some SPAM on my
primary addresses.

Hello fellow ham-ers, I am proud to say that I will start a Saturday Night

Saturday Night, from 7PM central time to 8:30pm central time. That's 0100
Sunday (UTC) to 0230 Sunday (UTC). I will be 'net manager,' but this is an open
net. Every satellite operator is welcome to jump in. This will basically be a
large round-table, and after every rotation people are welcome to jump in. I
will not be net control. There won't be a net control. Just a place/time
for an open net of satellite operators or hams wanting to be satellite
operators to ask questions or talk about that rare satellite DX. Feel free to
connect your -L or -R nodes, or just yourself. Please keep the participants to
hams that are interested in becoming satellite ops or are already satellite
ops, or ones that are curious what this is about. Thanks, K9TSU, Vince, en52,

So I think everyone read the announcement ARRL made before FD. Now

[amsat-bb] AMSAT-BB Rotor Interface Yaesu 5500 Digest, Vol 6, Issue 45

2011-01-23 Thread Louis House, KD5GM
Hi Bill,
I am using the LVB tracker with the G-5500 and controlling them with the
SatPC-32 software.
My experience with this system has been very pleasing, straight forward and
plug play. The documentation for the LVB is excellent and the same is
true for SatPC-32. Setting the calibration between the LVB and the G-5500
was a snap, with very easy to follow instructions.
Supporting AMSAT by purchasing the LVB is icing on the cake.
My 2 cents.

OK, a newbee question about interfacing rotors. I have a Yaesu 5500
and I run PCSat32. What do I need between the rotor and the
computer? I would like a few options. Do I need the Yaesu 232
interface box or will a generic box do the job. If a generic box
will work, which are the best for satellite work with PCSat32?
