If you want to hear garbage on 2 meters, try listening to it in the
middle of the city.
I have to stand in one particular place to have a chance work Europe
on AO-7 when it's dark outside. The light fixtures surrounding the
parking lot and courtyard of my apartment building put out a terrible
static. There's only one spot I've found where I can hear the
satellite at low elevations to the northeast and not hear those light
fixtures.
Trying to pick anything up from my balcony on 2 meters is fruitless.
In addition to countless birdies from every piece of electronic
equipment you can think of (including an S9+40 one right on 145.800
MHz), there's constant S8 broadband static from the building.
Then on 70cm there's the military EPLRS. Luckily that's just annoying,
it doesn't really hurt my ability to copy anything.
