A practical alternative is to build the QFH from the recent QST
article. I have just finished one of these, and it seems to work
reasonably. As luck would have it, I just posted notes on the process
on my blog at

http://ve9qrp.blogspot.com

This is the RHCP version provided in the article. I found the downlink
from VO-52 to be rather more weak than, say a vertical or dipole. I
attribute this to the difference in circular polarity. I, too, am
interested in switched circularly polarized omnidirectional antennas.
I think I might make a AA2TX lindenblad for the corresponding LHCP
unit.

Does anyone have recommendations for RF switches suited for 2m work
and N-connectors?

If you like building antennas, you might look at the Lindenblad which
performs similarly. I am finishing up my dual-band pair and may get
them installed, today:

I will fill in more info on this page in a day or two (just a few photos, now)

Preferably with 50R N type connectors.
Whilst weatherproof, good quality PL259s are available, most dealers don't
stock them and thay are NOT 50 Ohm.

2009-12-30 Thread David Wing
Ron,

I recently put up some crossed yagis with the ability to switch from RHCP to
LHCP and I cannot recommend strongly enough that it is a real advantage to
be able to do this.

Note that you would not T-Connect antennas with differing polarity...you
want to be able to switch between them. You could do that with an antenna
switch, either remote up near the antennas or in the shack...of course in
the shack means you have to run two feedlines.

Another option is to build a relay switch as described here:

I have both the RHCP and LHCP receiver versions, but with a house move, I
have not had the opportunity to test them.
