[amsat-bb] Re: FW: NASA Ames Phonesat Balloon Launch
AMSAT/APRS? Did anyone capture any of the Phonesat UHF beacon data? The NASA AMES folks are asking. So far, no one has sent them any data (to the email address they provided below). I do remember someone saying they could hear it but not decode it. Any others? Of course the APRS tracking was received by all, and it made a nice track on APRS.FI, but the question was the UHF downlink. The smartphone was just the computer and sensors. The communication was by UHF radio. On 09-Jun-11 15:09, Dave Webb KB1PVH wrote: Maybe this? The 4kg nanosatellite STRaND-1 developed in the UK by University of Surrey and Surrey Satellite Technology Limited (SSTL) will be flying a Smartphone, see http://www.southgatearc.org/news/january2011/mobile_phone_in_orbit.htm I recall they were hoping to launch by the end of the year. The great thing about flying Smartphones is you get loads of Processing Power, a Still/Video Camera and GPS in a very small and very cheap board. 73 Trevor M5AKA --- On Thu, 9/6/11, Nigel Gunn G8IFF/W8IFF ni...@ngunn.net wrote: The smartphone was just the computer and sensors.
