[amsat-bb] Re: Logging Frequencies
Because of Doppler shift, logging exact frequencies is kind of pointless. Just note which band and mode (fm, ssb, etc) was in use for both uplink and downlink, and you should be fine. Note that some call out the band letter (v for 2 meters), some use wavelength (e.g. 2 meters), and some the general frequency (145 mhz). I've seen QSL cards done each way. Also, if you don't like any of the QSL cards that are orderable by mail, you can make your own with any number of PC graphics applications. Mine are done in Powerpoint (OpenOffice), and printed on card stock. I've been on the birds about a week now and have started keeping a log and breaking out the QSL cards. So what do enter for the frequency? The uplink or downlink or both? Or nothing since the frequencies are well known (at least on the FM birds). Thank in advance for the answers. Also thank to all who've worked me the past week. It's been fun. Hi Rick! I'm looking forward to receiving your card. I will print these XE2 cards shortly after I return to Phoenix tomorrow night or Sunday morning. Good luck working the birds, Rick! 73! I just designed a new QSL card for SAT Ops. I left space for adding the frequencies with an Up Down Arrow and also to spot for grids, One for with my home grid and a blank if I work from outside DM33. Patrick (XE2/WD9EWK) is the first to get one. Hope to be sending out a bunch of these in the future. 73 Clear Skies Rick Tejera Editor SACnews, Public Outreach Coordinator Saguaro Astronomy Club Phoenix, Arizona www.saguaroastro.org http://www.saguaroastro.org/ saguaroas...@cox.net K7TEJ ___ Sent via amsat...@amsat.org. You can see pictures at the URL below. On the satellite card, the box right below the middle C of my callsign is Satellite and mode. I printed the satellite and operating mode - for example: FO-20 V / U. The next box was the operating mode - for example: SSB. I made no attempt to print the exact frequency - especially since it changed throughout the contact (I spent most of my time on the linear birds). http://members.dslextreme.com/users/k6ccc/QSL.html -- 73 - Jim Walls - K6CCC j...@k6ccc.org Ofc: 818-548-4804 http://home.earthlink.net/~k6ccc AMSAT Member 32537 - WSWSS Member 395 ___ Sent via amsat...@amsat.org.
